  • TVS XL 100 - Fixing a after market self starter.

    Hi.

I saw a person with a disability struggling to kick start a new TVS XL 100 (100cc 4 stroke) moped. I have seen few modfied TVS XL Super (60 CC 2 Stroke) fitted with self starters few years back and did not touch me in any way other than admiring the skills.

But now when I saw this person I thought knowing any such contact in Chennai would have made a great difference for him. I tried to search on Internet but all drew blank. I searched on the forums of xBhp and again drew blank. Does any of you know any mechanic/electrician who can do the necessary modifications to add a self start for TVS XL 100?

    Thanks,
    Narayanan

    Query Approved

Post in the Chennai Offline thread as well. Maybe someone would be able to guide you.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Saw snippets of info where attempt was made to attach TVS Scooty/Honda Activa Starter to XL. But at My present computer terminal, none of those sites are permitted and hence i am unable to go further. Will check again and try to scavenge for info. in person as well as online.

Dont mind me asking, but what was the exact handicap of the person you saw. Because if the XL has paddles there could be ways to make it start with a Cable Pull (like our Gensets). But then i may be thinking in the wrong direction here. I thought of this as there may be space constraint to fit a starter Battery as well as XLs Dynamo might not sustain its charging upto the mark. (I am also unable to get a detail on Diagramatic spec on he XL from here as well)

Shooting in the dark, will find more info about this.

The pedal version of the TVS XL moped (by definition moped should have a pedal though!) was changed to kick starter version from its 60cc model itself. So in the TVS 100 XL it is a kick starter. The rider should get down go to the other side to use the stronger leg, kick and get back to start ride.

        Thanks for your efforts.
