  • Problems wid new Yamaha FZ16

I got my FZ16 just a few days back.....

first of all the steering seems a little heavy on left side....

secondly my front brake caliper seems to be constantly rubbing wid the disc.....when i rotate the front wheel on stands ....some squeaky rubbing noise comes from the caliper area....

    what could be the reason.....

If ain't broke, don't fix it!

Dude, first of all, there is no steering on a bike!

Anyway, what exactly does heavy on the left side mean? Is the bike pulling towards the left side? One way to check that can be to leave the handlebars while riding the bike in a straight line... If the bike seems to be pulling towards one side, there definitely is a problem and you will need to get it checked. I hope the bike that they delivered to you isn't the one that they used for test rides because all riders (including me) abuse test bikes .

As far as the disc brake is concerned, how much is the noise? Is it really noticeable? What about the front tyre - is it facing a lot of friction? Rest the bike on the main stand and rotate the front tyre in the direction of bike's forward motion and see if it is stopping too quickly.

If these things are not that serious, my advise to you would be not do anything. Disc brake is a very sensitive part which even if slightly messed up can give you many sleepless nights. And then again, what you are facing is fairly common with new bikes or brakes - the noise might even disappear after a few days. Basically, if ain't broke, don't fix it.

        Thanx Raunak...

well i used "steering" owrd as a verb and not as a noun.....

anyways...ya of course i tried leaving the handle bar as u said.... it slightly pulls on the left side......its not much serious though so will wait till first service.....

and the brake part i dont kno....again i tried the same thing which u said....but still there is a littli "shhh" sound coming from the caliper area.

i found the same thing in some other FZ's parked in ma area as well.....i hope its normal...

        anyways thanx ....

          Yamaha fz16 v2 handling issue.

I have purchased tha yamaha fz16 v2 after a long wait due to my personal reasons. But now when i have bought the bike i feel there are two issues which are making me sad.
          1. When i am riding on a straight rode and leaving my handlebars and taking my hands off the bike is going to right side. This is at 4000rpm. Took is to the yamaha svc and the person measured the distance of left and right handles feom the tank using the finger and said fork is not bent. He said i need handlebar adjustments. But this doesnt satisfy me😢

          2. When i am braking at even normal speeds, i can hear a screeching sound like chi chi somewhere from behind or side. Dnt know if its a rear shocker or what.

500kms done and first service due on 10th march16
