Ambition front forks leaking from where they shouldn't
Left side fork on my ambition 135 is leaking from the top screw where it meets the headlight, the local junior mechanic beat the top most part of the fork with a hammer to forcefully open the rusted top screw and I think he damaged the inner grooves of the screw and now its leaking...so Now will I need to replace the entire fork set or is there any alternative fix for it now?? I'm scared of drving the bike anymore and have already argued a lot with the mechanic but all he could do was get retightened and thats it.Tags: None

I am not 100% sure what do you mean by top screw. Assuming it is the top bolt which is used to close the forks and preload the spring against, I would say try using some Teflon tape for a jugaad. If those work, then well good. If not then you might wanna put a soft gasket or a copper washer or something and then tighten it.Originally posted by Ambition135 View PostLeft side fork on my ambition 135 is leaking from the top screw where it meets the headlight, the local junior mechanic beat the top most part of the fork with a hammer to forcefully open the rusted top screw and I think he damaged the inner grooves of the screw and now its leaking...so Now will I need to replace the entire fork set or is there any alternative fix for it now?? but again, a photograph of the section clearly hammered or leaking would clarify it a lot.

Re: Ambition front forks leaking from where they shouldn't
There is a rubber washer on the top screw which prevents oil leaks. Check if that is intact or not.Originally posted by Ambition135 View PostLeft side fork on my ambition 135 is leaking from the top screw where it meets the headlight, the local junior mechanic beat the top most part of the fork with a hammer to forcefully open the rusted top screw and I think he damaged the inner grooves of the screw and now its leaking...so Now will I need to replace the entire fork set or is there any alternative fix for it now?? Thanks for the advice, I know its a jugaad but I'm also scared of that fork getting apart while driving, that mechanic who I took the bike for fork seal replacement asked his 15 year old intern junior mechanic to remove the forks and in order to remove the top bolt he beat it with a hammer, now oil leaks from top making me think if he damaged that top bolt and I fear that it may break and the fork may dislodge causing me to crash along with the bike and meet an accident... really scared...but I'm tired of wasting money, will m-seal work??
PS: I'll post a pic in the morning

No, there has never been a rupper washer in the top most bolt of the forks in my bike, its a 2004 old model may be thats why but I've not checked newer bikes' forks...
