I am facing listed issues recently with my 2009 Unicorn ES (59,950kms).
Request experts advice and contact of good mechanic in Mumbai (between Thane to Ghatkopar)

1) Pickup issue / Not revving-
-Compression is getting low when RPM needle is between 2 to 5. Suddenly gets pickup when RPM needle crosses 5.
-Before changing carb diaphragm & carb sensor assy, bike was not crossing speed of 60kmph.
-No issue with bike starting, it starts with one kick or self(now not using since battery charging issue).

Diag history-
-Changed Air filter
-Changed set of carburetor diaphragm /piston vacuum comp (mechanic in Mumbai calls it slide)
-Changed Oil + cleaned oil filter with new gasket
-Changed spark plug.
-Chain adjustment done. rear and front sprocket still in good condition.
-No issue found with clutch plates
-At last he changed carb sensor assy with someone's old one by getting me into confidence that it has solved my issue of not crossing 60km speed.
Since it solved my speed issue I haven't argued but still has doubt.
Now I am able to reach 100kmph when riding single and 90kmph with double easily.
-But after few days often headlight were acting against throttle.
i.e Engine ON idle - headlight was bright
when pulling lever / throttling - head light was getting dim.

Conclusion by mechanic -
-Change whole carburetor which will cost between 5500 to 6500.


2) Battery Charging Issue-

-After 13 days of above carb activity, suddenly one day bike broke down in middle of road.
-It was not starting; seems battery was dead, as horn / indicators / neutral light / spark from plug / was not responding.
-Checked with nearby available local mechanic and he confirmed a bad rectifier (it was stock rectifier). He changed rectifier with new local made which costed me INR 350 + labor 100.
-After changing he started bike with another battery connecting parallel to bikes original battery (++ --). He kept bike idle by increasing throtle speed from carb. After 15 minutes Neutral light came back and indicator (dimly) started working. So rectifier change off course also solved my dim headlight problem.
-He suggested to get battery charged/changed from battery vendor.
-So now I gave battery for charging and He kept for charging, however also suggested that battery is gone as its old. It may be true as I purchased it in July 2012.
-So next day I collected and connected battery back which solved my issue. Everything is working now including self.
-Bike was running okay with compression issue still there. But suddenly after a week again bike broke down i.e. NO POWER / No Horn / No Indicators / No Neutral light / no spark from plug.
-So now I decided and changed my battery to Amaron 7AH AP-BTX7R which costed me 1400. I asked him to check voltage by connecting meter to battery terminals as i know it should give approx 12.xx volt during engine off and 14.xx during engine ON for charge battery.
-And here it goes no changes in output value with both engine ON (idle + increase throttle) and OFF. Meter reading was 12.6 constant. This concludes issue with electrical or cabling.
- I also changed fuse but no luck.


Request experts to help me with solving battery charging issue first and then compression issue.
