  • Shogun - rear view issue...

A pretty basic problem - I really need to replace the stock rear view mirrors on my Suzuki Shogun. Checked out some aftermarked ones yesterday, but the quality was bad.

The dealer and TVS authorised shops of course dont have any either. The stock Shogun mirrors are of poor quality anyway.

Can a RVM of any other bike fit the Shogun's brackets? If yes, which ones will be best suited in therms of looks, shape and utility?

    Hope somebody can help.

If the thread pattern matches you can fit any bikes mirror, you need to do trial and error method, do this take of your cbz ex mirrors and try if its fits problem solved.

Thats what... can't really go to dealers of other bikes and ask to see if the mirrors of different models fit! If someone knows positively, then it would be lot more helpful.

The CBZ-x mirrors though of decent quality externally, are just not very useful for keeping an eye on your back. Would hope for something better on my gun, at least.

Can someone at least tell me which bikes have "effective" RVMs? But yes, they have to blend with the black Shogun's look.

          Racccoon,
What is the problem with the Shogun Mirrors? I never had a problem so far, infact I feel they are pretty good than the ones we have on the current bikes. One thing, oval shaped mirrrors will crap on The Boss. Try the KB100 mirrors, if you can find them.

Try mirrors from other TVS bikes... they should have similar thread pattern and most TVS bikes I have ridden had very useful RVM's. Your SC guys should be able to help you with this.

If you are into fancy stuff, look for no more than those of Passion Plus - glossy body colour paint

You find the stock mirrors good?!?!?! Now I wonder if we are even talking about the same thing! I remember them being crappy from day one - the mirror coating on the left one degraded in just a few months and it became totally useless. The right one as of now has a couple of spots which look bad. And both of them are were/are horrible at staying in place... even the wind in a fast ride misaligns them and makes them useless! Overall, they have been so crappy, its amazing how TVS-Suzuki could dish out such stuff.

That said, if they could stay in place and if the mirror coating stays good, they could be said to be fairly "effective" mirrors.

Ya, thats a good idea I guess. Shall pay a visit to the workshop asap.

Passion Plus mirrors will fit the Shogun's brackets?? And are they "useful"?

Does your Shogun mirror have the text "Objects are closer than they appear in the mirror"? If so then I am talking about the same. However I got mine replaced with genuine TVS spare mirror for the Shogun (rectangle). They are indeed good than the ones that came stock.

^^^Nopes, they dont have that text. IIRC, this text started appearing on RVMs after few years. So I guess we aren't talking of the same thing. Though my OEM RVMs are also rectangular, of course.

Nice trick by TVS... give crappy OEM RVMs and try and coerce the customer to buy better ones as spares...

I believe, they came out with better mirrors later with the improvement of technology, look for it with the TVS dealers and I believe your problem will be solved.

Finally got an RTR right side RVM. Got it for Rs. 120. I was sceptical when I saw it is also made by Fiem. In case someone dosen't know - the OEM ones are also Fiem and they were BAD from day one, as mentioned. The not so good quality indicators are also Fiems. So I kinda associate Fiem with poor quality.

But the RTR ones seem much better. They don't move around at random and also look much better than the Shogun's original RVMs.

Apparently even Pulsar's mirrors can fit the threads... in case someone is intrested. They are cheaper too. But I believe the RTR's "pointy" design looks better on the gun.

Good, so Hero Honda mirrors also fit? Subconciously I never considered them... as I don't like my CBZ-x mirrors much (utility wise). How are the Splendour mirrors? Any idea who makes them?

yup the hero honda mirrors are a direct fit. i considered the cbzx mirrors since my friend had a spare set lying around, but they didn't gel with the bike. i spent quie some time looking around for mirrors that went with the look of the bike, imo the splendo ones are the best.. not sure who makes them, bought it from the showroom wasn't too expensive
