  • ZMA in Hunk

first of all, bike over 150cc isnt legal down here so i cant have a ZMA directly but i desperately need a higher cc bike to feed my touring hunger. i have got my hunk & now i am thinking of swapping the zma's engine. is it possible to install the zma engine in the hunk? can anyone take a look and confirm whether the engine space in hunk can accommodate the zma's engine?
could someone pls take a (or two) close pictures of a zma engine so that my mech can tell me yes or no.
any pros and cons to share in this regard will be very very helpful. pls help

I seriously doubt it can be done.

      nothing is impossible bro !!
5 years back i have seen a RD 350 engine in a modified cbz...

with the cool looks of Hunk plus the added power and smoothness of zma engine would be wonderful thing...Good Luck.

even i to thought of the same in my uni engine space........

but the chassis is not designed for 150+ capacity if iam right...........

there are more power +load + stree + twisting movement etcc

but iam thinking the same even now...............

but where will u get the zma engine will it be a second hand one or a new babe..........

Never question the power of human Willpower . Anything is possible if you put the effort .

Just check if engine fits in CHassis else look at other engines like P220 ,200 ,RTR 180.

If anything over 150 cc is illegal , how would u possibly procure the Zma's/P200/P220 engine(s)?
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

There have been people putting Esteem engines to a Bullet. So I'd say its definitely possible. But you'll have to procure a ZMA engine and study it to find how to install it in the hunk. The engine mounts, carb joints etc will have to be studied and incorporated in real time.
be prepared to do lots of changes to the chassis.

Alternatively why dont you rebore the engine and maybe use a ZMA piston !

                  @ insane biker:
cops here look out for the body. never seen any cop checked bike engine or its serial number. its very alright as long as i've my hunk's body and chassis number intact.

bore.. when i said it to my regular mech, he was asking what is bore, rebore!! that facility not available here in this cocky place. how much it cost there? btw, can i get some picture of the engine and the engine space so that i can assume n proceed.

from where will you source the engine??
the zma, cbz, hunk share a similar looking platform i think its possible
you can expect a lot of welding work to the frame...

but i doubt that getting an idea of the fittment by just a few picturs of the engine is possible.
                    btw best of luck

we have clearly checked and yes the ZMA engine can be fitted easily into the CBZ frame and they seems to be the same. and CBZ and hunk share the same frame. i alsio plan to do some thing similar to the ZMA that iam going to buy.

                      take care

ZMA engine in Hunk is definitely possible.. I don't thing much welding work required, as the engine size is almost same.. U can also fit ZMA swingarm in ur Hunk to get more stability.. Which will raise ur wheelbase from 1325 to 1355mm.. ZMA swingarm costs Rs. 1350.. U have to weld ur rear break leaver for swiangarm change.. I have fitted ZMA swingarm in my apache 150 for more stability while touring.. U can see it in my album.. All the best dude..

In that case you don't you go the reverse way !! Buy a ZMA and fix hunk's engine and rear cowl etc on it !!

@ sukant: funny it might seem to you but many a hunk/cbz run with that zma kit n cowl. the difference u can realize only after seeing the speedo/instruments cluster. zma full kit cost 15k, p220 cost 12k. but i'm a tourer by heart n i dont need any cosmetic improvment. i need the motor.

@ richard: sourcing is bit a problem but can be found in the black market near the border areas. cost around 20+k.

@ john: how ur apace behave with the modded part? stable n can trust to do long haul?

thank you all for the input. it seems quite possible now. just few pics...

I have done lot of other modes to accomodeates the swingarm as it it is quite diff from stock apache 150 swingarm.. I have raised rear mudguard to accomodate it.. As hunk is enough stable to handle ZMA engine we can think of changing the swingarm as a second option.. Try to get ZMA engine from black market.. I have purchased ZMA chain cover from black market were it will cost lesser than the new one..
