If you are lucky, u might come across such a bashed up Karizma, and even your luck stays by ur side, the workshop guys might just sell you the engine of such a severly damaged bike. My 2 cents

It aint that easy to get a second hand engine from the black market. Instead, try speaking to the biggest Hero Honda workshop in your area. Sometimes, bikes that have seen a massive crash arent repaired at all.

hey man..
i still would stick to re-boring the engine than actually replacing it.
a re-bore job costs any where between 7.5 k to 12k.
I'm guessing a new engine will cost you way more than a re-bore job.(you said 20k +)
and you were saying that the mech's over there dont know about re-boring , then how will you fit the new engine ? It still comes down to having some experience with handling engines.Last edited by avinrichards; 04-21-2009, 12:21 AM.- You spend half your life before you realize your are ordinary, you then, either are too lazy to change or you do the extraordinary and change the world!

I understand u need only the performance !! But going the reverse will give u more ZMA parts, as u can use the swing arm, chassis etc from ZMA only !! That way u'll only replace the body panels with Hunk and that will have lesser risk of damaging the dynamics of the bike.Originally posted by master-user View Post@ sukant: funny it might seem to you but many a hunk/cbz run with that zma kit n cowl. the difference u can realize only after seeing the speedo/instruments cluster. zma full kit cost 15k, p220 cost 12k. but i'm a tourer by heart n i dont need any cosmetic improvment. i need the motor.
thank you all for the input. it seems quite possible now. just few pics...
Only thing is getting a reliable ZMA engine. You can perhaps come down to Kolkatta and try getting one. Some of the showroom will definitely have a banged up ZMA !!Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!

the engine idea is kinda shitty
get a zma piston and rebore your extreme bore to accomodate it
the zma, extreme, and old cbz share a common head platform..You can put the zma valves [im assuming they are already the same] and get a zma camshaft and there you go..you have a basic big bore
it'll work out cheaper too83' RD350 HT

u can rebore the xtreme bore to accomodate zma piston but the gudgeon pin will not fit the existing con rod u cannot modify the same even u cannot put the old cbz's piston in xtreme con rod.........Originally posted by atul_astro View Postthe engine idea is kinda shitty

if u try to modify the same the torque genrated cannot be handled by the existing clutch assy & the vibration genrated is high..........
i dont think zma cam shaft will fit this engine...............basically the xtreme, hunk, achiver, uni have the same enigine arch but the power rating changes due to highlift & jet size if u notice the power will be genrated in higher RPM........

well, i wanted to do this because i needed a bigger cc engine for quench my touring thirst. but avoided it because my mech said its possible to have the zma engine in hunk but the chasis may not hold the force, power, vibe of the bigger engine in continous high speed and could be fatal. so avoided the idea =v-(

zma and old cbz share the same head platform but not xtreme/hunk...using a zma piston on a hunk is not recomended since it has a 15mm gudgeon pin whereas hunk has a 14mm gudgeon piston...which is a big obstacle and this itself makes it unreliable have seen a few 200cc unicorn which share the same engine platform with hunk blowing up because of this issue...Originally posted by atul_astro View Postthe engine idea is kinda shitty

zma camshaft u can fit on a oldcbz but not on a hunk/xtreme/uni...Last edited by pradeep reddy; 06-09-2009, 01:40 AM.

start reboring. most suitable option for ya.. unless ya got big pocket.Originally posted by master-user View Postwell, i wanted to do this because i needed a bigger cc engine for quench my touring thirst. but avoided it because my mech said its possible to have the zma engine in hunk but the chasis may not hold the force, power, vibe of the bigger engine in continous high speed and could be fatal. so avoided the idea =v-(
223cc is much smaller as compared to the BORE R15 going to dig on ur pocket .. so in that sence new R15 idea is crap , mod the engine no other cheap option ..Originally posted by freakyarch View PostWhy dont u go for an R15? Still 150 cc with ample power for touring. May be you can do mods to achieve a good riding posture. Less complicated than fitting a zma mill to a hunk!
