  • Irritating P180

Hey guys i hav a p180 ug3 which has done just 3500 kms. Since last week i've notices that the bike is not accelerating very smoothly as it used to before. It jerks a lot.Feels as its running out of fuel. I saw this after i filled up fuel. So i asked my mech. he said its a prob of bad quality fuel as in water in fuel or sumthin. So today i got 2 litres of petrol from a different pump, drained all the petrol from the tank as well as the pet cock and also the carb. Filled in the new fuel.It ran smoothly for a kilometer but again the same old jerky story.I dunno wha to do.

Also is it like the Bajaj Service guys mess up the bike at 4th free service so that the customer has to come back to them for some or other work??

I had got the 4th free service on 1st of this month.

    Please help guys!!

        1) Check the state of ur engine oil
        2) Check if your air filter is choked
        3) Check if ur carb is clean and also check the A/F ratio
        4) Check for blockage of fuel lines
        5) Check your spark plugs for carbon deposit, if so clean the tips and put them back

Go through the above checklist and get back here. Most prolly, i guess u have had a bad service. Most of the free services, they just wash ur bike and hand it back. Stay with ur bike while it s being serviced.
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

Agreed check carborator and fuel T and check the tank cap whether its allowing air to pass or not...

yeah dude..i had the similar..issue..my p180 ug 3 is 350 km old ...i had this issue around 100km on the odo...as u said if u rip the throttle..it makes a sound as if sombody is blowing air in the water pipe..and it use to swtop and it will take ages to start...but now i got this solved..i shook the byk very badly and the next min it used to start...i called up the mech and he said that itz air logging in the tank..and preventing petrol from flowing freely....he checked the fuel pipe..he blowed some air into it...and the problem vanished from then....

and remeber to fill petrol atleast 2 litres....i was confused by this earlier...when i shook the byk i heard the sound of the petrol...but it doesn't start that petrol remains at the farend of the tank...near the leg guard....and also checked the book ..it was mentioned that 1.2 litr is unusable

its only an issue with your carb...get the float pin setting checked.
the air funda has not workd in my case. i need to see it to beleive it. dont blindly belive these roadside mechs. a 180 is a very simple machine

P.S. plz change the name of the thread. AS an owner of this fantastic machine i find it offensive.

I plan to fix it myself if possible.
                        so need some help.
                        1.Engine oil is perfect.Just 200km old.
2.In order to clean the air filter, should i remove the whole air box on the rh side of the bike or just the rectangular vertical cap? Also the ss guys put some kind of oil on the foam element. What oil should i use?Using what should i clean up the air filter?
3.The mechanic cleaned the carb once since this prob has occured. If i wanna clean it again, is it ok if i rinse it with petrol?
4.There is no blockage in fuel lines. The fuel flows freely.
5.Regarding spark plugs, how can i remove the carbon deposit without damaging the plug?Is there any special cleaning fluid available? How much should the gap between the electrodes be?I have stock plugs installed.

There is a lot of fluctuation in acceleration. Also there is a [I]dhup-dhup[I] sound coming from the exhaust. When I accelerate and then close throttle while in motion, the RPM falls like usual but while the RPM falls, this sound occurs.

Also, about the rich/lean mixture, there's a screw for tuning that. I dont know whether its a fuel-screw or an air-screw.How many turns from the point of complete tightening should i set it to for a perfect mixture?

Can u tell me where exactly this pin is?
will i have to remove the whole carb to set the pin?

Check the plug , may be fouling , or check the air filter too.
