  • Help: Gladi rain trouble

    Hi guys,

Today i had a very bad experience. Rained heavily in Bangalore, had to ride while getting drenched in the rain and to top it all my bike stopped working properly. It wouldn accelerate, would go off and then wouldn start with the electric starter. I would ve to kick start and rev really hard. I managed to get myself to a yamaha sc revving the bike like crazy in first and second gear. They told me the problem is something with the grounding and water falling on one of the parts. Im not sure wat it is called, i think he said the adapter. They took the bike in said it would be fine, but i would ve to make sure that water doesn fall on that particular part. I ve highlighted the part in the picture. Didnt have a pic of the gladi so i ve put in an apache.

They also talked about something being wrong with the kill switch. N that being one of the probable reason. I'm highly confused as to wat the problem really is because as soon as i left the showroom 1 km into the ride and the bike started doin the same thing. I somehow managed to get my bike home.
Please do give me suggestions as to what i should be doing.
If what the sc said is right about the adapter, any suggestion how i can keep that part dry It surely will get wet in the rain and i cant keep getting of the bike and drying it.
If there could be some other reason as to why this is happening please tel me wat i should do.
This is not the first time this is happening. Has happened before and i dont want to go through the pain of a broken down bike in the rain again

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Nothing to worry man your plug cap (adapter) is filled with water(moist) you have just take out the spark plug and the plug adapter wipe it with a dry cloth and clean the surface before putting it back, if you have a ring spanner with you you can do it your self, hope this helps.

        +1.
Ideally speaking, the plug cap shouldn't allow water to seep inside. Maybe it wasn't fastened properly or some crack may have developed with time. Change that cable if it's not in a good condition. Also,if you are an owner of the old Gladiator than the electrical failing is perfectly normal,as the Gladiator ownership thread will testify. Just take a look at how many electrical parts have been replaced in Dasco dada's bike.

P.S.: And I wrote all this without even noticing who was asking the question. I guess even the new Gladiators are not as improved on the reliability front as I thought.

P.P.S.: I am scared to use the engine kill switch now.

Could it also be due to water getting into the Air filter?

Stock filters have very very less chance of water getting in, ya when you
are using K&N or any foam filter chances are pretttttty high ..

I forsee a battery issue. I had exactly the same problem with my xtreme. Wudnt start in rains, a few misses and it would stop. Tried my hand at everything and it was finally diagnosed as a faulty battery issue due to which some shorting was occuring. Got the battery replaced and have been fine ever since.

                Get your battery checked..
