  • TVS Jupiter stalling issue for 1 years

    Hi friends,

My TVS Jupiter is September 2014 model, only 7k Kms run. Was sitting in parking for 6 months of 2016.

I have replaced all the required parts and got it serviced twice from authorised centre but this following issue is always there.

    Scenario-

Scooter is running at about 45+ speed and suddenly it stops, the ignition goes off and it won't start at all.

I take it to the nearby mechanic and he checks fuel flow and cleans carb and air filter and everything, puts oil in one of the pipes and it would start. Now it so run either one hour, day, week, month or 3 months and again same issue.

I have got it checked at two different service centres and all of them say that all is well.
Yesterday too it stalled at about 40kmph speed.

I am so scared to ride this scooter as it has stalled in 40+ temperature or heavy rains or at 3AM.

Please help me find a solution!

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

        Hello,

I am having similar problem with my brother's 2014 Jupiter. It stalled on city road yesterday and would not start.
        1. I have cleaned the carb. The fuel bowl was full when I opened it for cleaning. So it might be safe to rule out the fuel supply issue. But in contrast even with choke on I do not smell fuel (should I?)
        2. replaced the battery (the battery was weak).
        2. The spark is not as strong as I would have liked it to be. It appears to be yellowish (rather than blue).
        3. The engine does not crank over using electric start. Not even starter solenoid engaging click is heard.

As I type this I am wondering the charge level of new battery. The shop said it was fully charged.

Other than this problem the vehicle has not shown any issues so far.

        Thanks,
        Satish

I would suggest you to go to the nearest authorised service centre and tell them the problems which you are facing.

Re: TVS Jupiter stalling issue for 1 years

            Hello,

The scoot still does not start. Tried few more things yesterday.

            1. The starter is okay. I was cranking it without holding the brake (OOPS)
            2. Checked the fuel pet cock vacuum operation by applying vacuum manually. It works.

Today I plan to remove the hood to have a look at vacuum plumbing for leaks and also have a look at air filter(s).

This is not my daily driver so I am taking my time to find out the problem before getting professional help.

Engine needs fuel, air and spark to start; of which spark is there, fuel is there (the fuel petcock test indicates so). Let us see.

            Regards,
            Satish

Not much to add in terms of progress.

One thing though... Either TVS does not know they need to hire industrial design engineers or to keep the costs low they have asked school kids to design the outer shell.
You need to remove about 10-15 screws, bolts to get access to the air filter cover.

I have had this problem with my TVS Wego too, service center tried and failed to diagnose the problem.

Then suddenly the problem stopped and has never surfaced. but I never take my wego on highways now
