  • Help with Activa Tyres

    Hello Xbhpians ,

I Own an Activa 3g bought in may of last year and has done roughly 7000kms. It has been taken care of properly with regular timely maintenance and frequent washes.
    Now , here's my concern.

Being monsoon , the roads are naturally wet and slippery. The tyres on my Activa are the MRF Nylogrip Zappers. These have pretty good dry grip , but come wet roads and these are just hopeless. I nearly slid out of control when turning at a crossroad once. Just recently, I had a small accident where I had to break hard behind a car that saw a speed breaker too late and my wheels locked up causing me to fall on my right. i just got a few cuts and bruises and am fine.

Because of this, I have decided to change the tyres despite them having enough tread left.

I have done a bit of research but couldn't find proper information as to which tyre has good wet grip. I hope the xbhpians would be able to guide me in choosing a proper tyre for my scooter.

Honda recommends these tyres: (90/100-10 53J , both front and rear)

    Ceat Zoom D
    TVS Conta 350
    MRF Nylogrip Zapper

    Thanks in Advance

Not too sure about scooter tyre models, so won't comment on that.

Regarding wheels locking up. You need to improve your braking skills, more so since scooters have a higher tendency to lock up and slide.

Search for the article on braking on xBhp.

      Hey,

I'm always quite gradual with my braking, very rarely does this happen. And this is the only time my wheels locked on wet roads.

Thanks for taking the time out to respond.
      Cheers !
