  • Resurrecting a 7 year old steed - Performance Mods to Apache RTR 160

    Hello all,

I have a 7 year old Apache RTR 160 that has seen all kinds of bashing from me in the past. Fortunately all the stock parts have held up and the bike still rattles like it was new. I have moved to the car and will now use the bike only for my experiments with performance mods. So I am not much concerned about mileage anymore and would like to extract the last bit of juice from my bike. Here are the things I have planned:

    1. Free flow Air Filter
    2. Upjetting the Carburettor
    3. Iridium spark plug and splitfire low resistance cables
    4. Free flow performance exhaust
    5. Change the rear sprocket (Currently 44teeth) to 46 teeth (That of rtr 180) Can it be fitted?

I have already upgraded the tyres to more racy michelins which are light and roll well, and using motul 7100 full synthetic oil. I have read and researched enough on xbhp and other sites and planning to go ahead with these mods.

It would be great if any of you can suggest me a mechanic in Bangalore who would be capable of doing these mods, especially the rejetting the carb. I am trying to find local mechanics but none of them have heard about any of these mods.

Help form experienced folks is appreciated

    Approved!

I'd have asked you to stay stock but then you say you've researched enough and you're ready to blow your money and the bike, then I'd suggest contacting proper tuning houses and not just any roadside mech to handle these delicate mods.

You may race prep your bike for the track day though! Hit MMSC and let the bike sing with its racy tires and engine mods while they last! Put bigger brakes too.

    Good luck

Thanks man! Yeah an experienced mechanic is what Im on the search for. Saw one on the mechanics thread (Bangalore motorcycle works) and will visit there.

I believe in staying stock, and I was using stock parts for all these years. But I really want to experiment and dont mind spending some money on these mods. Just that I want it to be done properly
