  • Max speed of Machismo after 1st Service???

    Hi All,

Posting on behalf of a friend (He'll also join xBhp at the earliest).
He got himself a brand new 500cc Machismo & he's done about 700 kms or so and is done with its 1st service... We are planning to do a 1100 kms starting tomorrow early morning for the long weekend... Should he stick to run-in conditions ??? What's the max speed he can achieve on this monster during the trip ??? He's planning to keep it at 60 kmph throughout the trip , will occasional speeding do any bad to his bike at this point ???

    Please throw some light...

    Thanks in Advance,

    Cheers,
    Pranesh

should stick to 60 KMPH and ocassionally upto 75 KMPH is allowed but not for long intervals.

Suggestion: Long trips should be done only after through run-in

How about taking good # of breaks during the journey & if yes, how frequently in terms of distance covered / time ???

If the 1st service is done and the bike has done 750km, you can go upto 70-75km/h without any issues whatsoever.
On the trip, once the bike has clogged over 1200-1300km, you can increase cruising speeds to 75-80km/h too.
See the thing is that during running-in, the engine shouldnt be strained much and one should avoid high rpms. At 70-75km/h, the Bullet chugs along easily and shouldnt be a worry

Chill yaar. You can do upto 80-100 easily.

Just keep varying speeds constantly. With 700km and oil change, the rest is FRANKLY irrelevant. 60kph is anyways too boring

and yes, take breaks frequently - like every 60-70 min.

60KMPH may sound boring but still drive at 60 KMPH only ocassional short bursts of upto 75 KMPH is ok but not 100.

see the choice is urs u want short term joy or long term happiness.

crusing at speeds above 75 KMPH will harm the engine in long run.

please dont do it if u love ur bike.

                  @princesirohi, @groupbhp, @hitanshu:
Thanks a lot for your inputs, better to stick to 60 kmph with occasional short bursts till 75 kmph + no sudden acceleration + driving at varying rpms

@ Aryan please close this thread

PS: Apologies for butting in again, but I am a firm believer in mototuning one's bike.

Mototuning thing is new thing i learnt from xbhp .. Dint know about it earlier.. although my bike effectively went through it.. reason being it being my first bike (its a P180 UG3 btw) i couldn't resist the urge, moreover i had given it to (so called) friends for their use within a week coz i had to come to delhi for a week.. it was only 10 days old then.. and due to unavoidable circumstances(a (real)friend had had an accident in khandala) my bike had to do the duty of going from pune to khandala and getting the other bike back ... n it was ripped all the way...
Anyways to cut the story short, never had any probs with it ever since(after the initial 3 free services at bajaj, always have gone to Castrol BZ ).. and even been complimented by a friend (a P220 owner) that it is actually running very smooth, even better than his own bike ...

So moral of the story, me too a believer in moto tuning the bike now.. have fun with it.. just get the services done at decent intervals and dont be paisa bachau in taking its care... ENJOY
