• Royal Enfield Luggage setup help

I need some help setting up a touring rig. I've got a 2010 (old model) RE Thunderbird TS.
I live 60 kms from my place of work... travel to and fro on weekends. I'd also like to do the odd tour every now and then.

What kind of luggage setup should I go for? My budget is 5k and the choices I have are:

1. ViaTerra Claw: a soft tail-cum-saddle bag with about 65 litres capacity (i guess).
2. A metal luggage rack, standard bags and bungee cord.

I'm not an experienced tourer. So looking for some insight into what I should go for. Any help is appreciated.
Please let me know your thoughts, pros and cons of each etc.

Oh, and if anyone knows the best place to get the racks in Chandigarh, I'd love to hear from you.

Topic Approved.

I've had a good experience with my ViaTerra bag on my Duke 390.
Its good enough and even after years of usage, only problem was the chain gave up and the chain holders got broken and I had to attach keychain rings to operate the zips.
Nothing too bad though, considering that this was after years of regular usage (it was permanently attached to the bike and regularly zipped/unzipped everyday).

Last I checked, Royal Enfield had their own bag... Have a look here:- https://store.royalenfield.com/colle...ddle-bag-black

@ Others, please pour in your suggestions....

Thanks Samarth!
The ViaTerra is a definite option for me then!
I know it's a universal bag, but is it suitable for REs?

Not too keen on the RE bags, especially at 30 Litre capacity. The ViaTerra seems more sensible for me since I don't ride with a pillion.

Thoughts on the Viaterra/any other saddle bag versus metal racks on an RE?

You can take Via Terra Claw. You don't have to worry a bit. I had used it in my long rides & didn't face any problems. IMHO don't go for RE made bags because they are costly. You can check youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEZ9LVRBcNM). Although it's been tasted on Classic DS but you can take the idea & use it with your TBTS. No worry.

Hope this helps!!
