  • Maximizing Mileage

What is the rpm range @ 5th gear on a zma-R to obtain the very maximum mileage while cruising? 3k-3.5k or 4.5-5k? Or some other range?

Is it true that mileage will be best nearing Max Engine torque rpm range? In that case 5K-6K rpm on zma should give best mileage

We can use this thread to post the rpm range @ top gear to obtain maximum mileage for various Bike makes.

i heard from somewhere that in zma 3.5K revs are best for mileage as the main circuit of the carb hasn't kicked in yet then. anything above 4.5 - 5 k will result in a drop.

how true is that? I've read many users advising on a cruising speed of 80-90 kmph on zma ~ 4.5-5.5 K revs, for maximum mileage.

and what about the notion of riding near to max engine torque rpm? does that really give max mileage?

the max power mark need not be the max efficiency mark. in fact, in wont be - in most cases.

For Pulsars, the economy range is 3k~5k rpm.

For the Zma, U have the required gear etched on the speedo for a range of speeds. Stick to first half of a particular range for each gear for better FE .

i mentioned max torque, not power. both occur at different rpms and the range in between is known as the power band of an engine.

In fact, the kinetic honda's and scooty pep's that run a belt cvt are configured to operate at the max engine torque rpms for most driving situations.
