  • Bajaj pulsar ns 200 issues

I recently bought ns200 around 10 days back. Today I did rode for 20 kms continuously , max speed 55 kmph. After 20 km stretch I stopped for 15min. After the short break when I started the bike it refused to start. It was acting like it has no fuel. When I checked more than half tank was available. Then after several tries it started but wasn't moving. When I gave accelerator it was jerking (like when there is very less fuel), this happened in all the gears. No pickup at all. Any idea what might be the issue. How can I fix it and avoid in future.

Topic approved. and moved to help section.

I hope you didn't apply water on the hot bike, for cooling down or for what ever intention. Of course, there may be other reasons like bad fuel quality, etc.
Do see if this incident repeats or not.

@ P200 NS owners, kindly help the Original poster with this issue...

Was the first service done?. this usually happens when the tank is removed and when putting it back, the fuel line gets jammed between the frame and the tank. it can also happen due to clogging of fuel filter due to bad fuel quality or if you are running too low in fuel

First service not yet done. Clocked close to 300 km on odo. Fuel was more than 4 bars.

From what you are sharing it is obvious that there is a sudden loss of either petrol or spark energy to cause the problem. Since the bike is in Warranty I suggest not to tamper with it in any way. ...
          1. Check if the spark plug cap is sitting tight and proper on the spark plug..
          2. Check if the Petrol in your tank is good and not adulterated.
I presume your bike is Fuel Injected in which case injector clogging is a possibility...mostly due to bad petrol..

Check for any loose contact in wiring Harness connectors..Check specifically for the Fuel pump whine when you switch on the ignition ..

A loose contact/fault in the Bank Angle sensor can also cause this...

It is best to let the ASC do the correction and get a report from them..Understand what has been done so that you have better knowledge of your bike's Gremlins.

          Good Luck.

If it is a carburetor version then the carb., must be a CV type..In this case check for Throttle slide binding to the carb., barrel It is a known problem with CV carbs...Another possibility is the presence of muck in float bowl / idle jet which must be cleaned..again the ASC is the source for doing it since your bike is in Warranty.

Brother, i've had the same problem and it turned the mechanics to the fact of replacing the jet. It went well after that. Then, I had a bigger trouble, imagine riding all the way from Delhi to Chandigarh with alot of jerks. Mechanics at Chandigarh were pathetic and then I rode it with the same problem to Jalandhar. People at Jalandhar never were able to fix it but a service supervisor at Kurali did so by having his community talk. All he did was to match the timing of the carb with the timing of the piston movement and firing cycle. Yes there is a timing related issue with the carbs too, if you ask.

Carburetors have nothing to do with engine timing of either valve or ignition..it is there to supply fuel in appropriate ratio depending on the throttle input. The only possibility is that a TPS connected to the throttle actuation may have failed...this is rarest of rare situation and will happen only if it is tampered with and / or abused.

The issue may be with the plug which you need to check it and if its not in good condition then you need to change it and the other reason may be the water. So check these two things your problem will be resolved.
