I have attached how the cracks appear on the left, the same is seen on the right. Kindly, guide me on what should be my next step? Should I get the rim leaking fixed or should I change tires?

Should I get my tires changed?
My 200NS has the stock Eurogrip tyres. Although the tires have run only 5500km so far, the front tyre is having two problems. One is, it is leaking air for the rim. And secondly, it has got these cracks developed on both sides.
I have attached how the cracks appear on the left, the same is seen on the right. Kindly, guide me on what should be my next step? Should I get the rim leaking fixed or should I change tires?

Re: Should I get my tires changed?
Man, those are some big ass cracks. I knew Euroslips were crap but to get ruined in 5 thousand kms is really bad.
Yes, you should replace the tire as soon as possible. Cracked tires on a bike that can reach triple digit speeds in a few seconds is very dangerous. Check out the rear tire as well and if you find any abnormalities, replace it along with the front.
If the rims are not bent then replacing the tire will solve the air leaking issue from the rims.
Tire recommendations : MRF Zappers for the front and MRF Revz-S for rear. I have been using them as stock and have done nearly 25 thousand kms on them, both daily commuting and touring. I am very much satisfied with them and they provide good dry and wet grips, much better than the Euroslips you have now. The average life according to riders is 30 thousand kms, but I am a sedated rider and might extract a few more thousand kms before I finally replace them.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

The tyres looks very bad. Please change your tyres ASAP to MFR as suggested.
But please answer few questions to know why such kind of cracks are developed on these tyres.
- What is the tyre pressure you normally maintain.
- How old is your tyre/bike
- Which terrain you ride on.
- Do you ride it daily.
Cheers,

Thanks Ankey for the reply! Will replace it asap. I had read the initial reviews about the eurogrip tyres, and thought to replace it when it wears out. Probably now is the time!

Thanks for the reply! I have answered your questions below.
1. Like I mentioned the tires were leaking from the rim, so almost every weak I used to fill air upto 27psi. I was searching for someone who would fix the rim leak, every other puncture guy only did the regular nail removal fixes.
2. Bike/tyre is probably 3 years old.
3. Regular tar road. City riding and occasional highway trips.
4. Ride it around 4 times a week for short/medium city rides. Due to personals reasons haven't been able to go for long rides.
Also I would like to add that, rim leak was there for probably more then 6-8 months and I was unable to get it fixed. So almost every week I used to top it up and almost everytime it was around 12-13psi. But I didn't rode it on that psi, only took it till the pump. But now I think that could have been a contributing factor.SOMETIMES,

Thank You for patiently answering my questions.
My conclusion based on the above facts are as follows.
- The main reason for such crack can be due to the short runs for filling the air. Due to low air pressure the tyre is under heavy stress as it cannot withhold its curved profile. The crack are also developed inside the outer grooves.
- The tyre is also 3 years old which can lead to oxidation and the rubber becoming brittle which can lead to cracks.

Also unfortunately in my, dog peeing is too common. My front tire particularly was it's favourite. I have seen almost the tires spray fired twice a day minimum. Could that be a factor for oxidation? Daily getting wet?Originally posted by accuengineer View Post

Our Dogs peeing on their favourite person bike to remind other dogs that he is mine. There are 4 bikes in my house but my dog loves to pee only on my bike. But my tire did not have any determinant effect on it.
