Also, I'm looking to change the front tyre. Something that will be available on Amazon(since the sale will be here soon). There's the Michelin Pilot Sporty on the back, and I heard it's not good in wet conditions. So I don't want the same tyre on the front.

Which engine oil to use, and front tyres.
I purchased a Suzuki Gixxer SF last week, and I'm looking to change the engine oil. I don't know which engine oil is being used now. So I need suggestions as to which one to use. I don't ride on highways, only in the city. And since I stay in Bangalore, the temperature here is never over 30 degrees. I have no clue regarding mineral, synthetic and so on.

its just for 750Rs/QuartOriginally posted by tremonade View PostDamn, its so expensive. Can you suggest me cheaper options?
You will not find 100% synthetic & imported Synthetic product cheaper then this even if you get it wont be group 4or group 5 based oil it will be group 3 based oil which is actualy mineral but companies have started marketing them as synthetic

Re: Which engine oil to use, and front tyres.
every product has different change intervals according to vehicle.Originally posted by tremonade View PostSo for how long can I use this oil before I need to change it?
there 4wheeler oils have drain intervals upto 40k kms
in 2wheeler segment one of my friend has used it in his royal enfield upto 17000kms
there suggest 2x Oem interval on almost all bike

Re: Which engine oil to use, and front tyres.
You can't use any oil beyond 8000 kms in your Suzuki as oil filter is recommended to be changed atleast every 8k. Otherwise, it will get clogged up. Usually people dont replace the filter alone and keep the old oil in - so thats ruled out. Instead of buying a costly synthetic at 1k and keeping it in for 6-8k kms, you can consider buying a good SS for around 0.5k and keep it in for 3-4 k kms. Replace filter everytime you change oil.Originally posted by tremonade View PostSo for how long can I use this oil before I need to change it?Which 4 wheeler oil can do 40k - those Mobil 1's ?Originally posted by bhuvan.aneja View Postevery product has different change intervals according to vehicle.

Re: Which engine oil to use, and front tyres.
I only ride 200kms in a month, so I guess I'll get one which costs around 500 bucks.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostYou can't use any oil beyond 8000 kms in your Suzuki as oil filter is recommended to be changed atleast every 8k. So yeah, which one would you recommend below 500 bucks?

Re: Which engine oil to use, and front tyres.
If you ride only 200 kms a month approx, even a mineral changed every 2.5-3k will do. Also, since your running is less, keep on eye on the duration too. Say you use Shell AX7 - just replace it every 3000 kms or 6 months whichever comes first and your bike will be okay. Forgot to add in last post: stick to 10w-40. Oil filter is interchangable with RTR.Originally posted by tremonade View PostI only ride 200kms in a month, so I guess I'll get one which costs around 500 bucks.

Re: Which engine oil to use, and front tyres.
Complete synthetic oil is useful only for long continues runs and not meant to be used on bikes that does low kms because you may have to frequently keep a tab on oil levels. Stick to 10w40 grade. Try Motul or Shell semi-synthetic as it will be costing you Rs.400-500 and should last you 4-5k km or four months or one service cycle and I would suggest you to change oil at each service cycle rather than keeping old oil in the engine for very long.
Don't buy tyres online. I have found that most good discount you see online are tyres that have been in godown for many years or faulty batches. A long kept tyre hardens and such tyres can cause fatal fall when you brake hard. You need to buy tyres that are not more than 3 month old.
Note: Always search and read the existing forum material for the same questions instead of asking as that will reduce duplication. Look at : https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcy...155-a-646.htmlThere are no short-cuts to any place worth going. So ride safe when you are treading uncharted roads.

Shell AX7 or Suzuki by Motul 10w40. Both will last around 2000-3000kms. No need to use synthetics.Originally posted by tremonade View PostI only ride 200kms in a month, so I guess I'll get one which costs around 500 bucks.

Re: Which engine oil to use, and front tyres.
Use semi-synthetic oil or 10W40 fully synthetic oil as it will give combine effect of performance, mileage and smoothness. Coming to brands go for Motul, Shell Advance AX7 10W-40 4T 1 Litre , Castrol oil, Divyol oil, ELF India, this oil would surely improve your gixxer performance.Originally posted by tremonade View PostI purchased a Suzuki Gixxer SF last week, and I'm looking to change the engine oil.
