  • My Pulsar 150cc makes a knocking sound when driving on 3rd,4th,5th gear at exact 4000 to 5000 RPM.

    Hello Everyone,

My Pulsar 150cc 2013 model. It just completed 40k Kilometers. After that a mechanic recommended to change the cam-chain since it was making chain noise. After replacing the chain, bike sounds nice and smooth in idle. But while driving at 3rd, 4th and 5th gear at around 4000 to 5000 RPM, the engine starts to make a knocking noise, like some part is hammering each other.

I've complained this issue to mechanic but he told me that it was sound of piston hitting the bore kit. This sound was not heard before changing the cam-chain.

I had shown to other mechanic and he just unscrewd the screw of head mount cover mount and re-screwed back. Now the knocking sound is little bit low but still makes noise while driving.

Can someone please help me. is it normal to have that knocking sound. or do i have to do something to the engine.

My Pulsar 150cc makes a knocking sound while driving in 3rd,4th,5th gear at 4000-5000 RPM?

    Hi Pulsar Owners,

My Pulsar 150cc 2013 model had just reached 40k Kilometers was running perfectly. Upon that the mechanic said to replace cam-chain since it was making chain noise. After replacing the cam-chain the bike sound was smooth when idling.

But when I drive it at 3rd,4th gear at 4000-5000 RPM, it makes a knocking noise for 3 to 4 seconds and sometimes it keeps on making that noise.

I've complained this to the mechanic and he said that it was the sound of piston hitting the bore kit. I had checked the oil pump and it was working properly.

Again I had shown to another mechanic, he just unscrewed the screw of head-mount cover and re-screwed it. Now the knocking sound is little bit low but the sound is still there.

Can it be of mis-align of bore kit when replacing the cam-chain? (my observation)

Can someone please tell me what is the issue. I've checked the rear chain and everything. But still no luck.

      Common topics merged, Approved.

A piston moves to and fro inside a block. A piston doesn't "hit" the block (which is what I assume he meant by "Bore kit").

It is more likely for the piston to be hitting an opening/ closing valve. It might've been caused due to some unintentional misadjustment...

I can only say, get in touch with a truly knowledgeable mechanic and ask him to diagnose the problem clearly, before working on it.
