  • Best entry level helmet, upto INR 10,000/-

I need to get a new helmet as my LS2 needs to be retired.

The options I have currently looked at are:
    1. Scorpion Exo R390
    2. Bell Qualifier
    3. MT Revenge.
    4. SOL cyborg

Any suggestions on which one to pick up?

Among your shortlisted ones, i didn't find the mention of safety ratings for Scorpion helmet for some reason.

And couldn't find teh SOL cyborg helmet either. Though there is one MT Revenge cyborg helmet.

And the MT revenge series is SHARP 5* rated, so i will go with that.

I presume SOL would be a good budget option. I have a MT Thunder-III which is comparable to the Revenge series. The wind noise creeps in when doing 70-80kmph speeds.

Bell and Scorpion might be pushing the budget a bit more, but that just me..

Up to 10,000 is fine with me, I had put that in the title. I used the thunder and the wind noise was really annoying to be honest, moreover I had used it on the track. Otherwise I quite liked the helmet. Although if I can get a better helmet under 10k I'll take that.

I would suggest MT Revenge. Best helmet under 10k range. SOL is on heavier side and have more wind noise compared to MT.

If there's any other helmet I could get within 10k that you know of, I'll gladly try that too. Otherwise MT revenge it is then.

How about the HJC CL17? Costs 9500.

The issue I've seen with the HJC's spare parts are very hard to get. I have a HJC CS-R3 lying around whose base plate is broken. Haven't been able to get it for a while now.
I know a dealer who sells Bell and Scorpion so was a little inclined towards those.

I'm currently on a Bell Qualifier, coming from a MT Blade which faced considerable damage after an unexpected wreck.

                  Both helmets are SHARP 3 Star rated, but I'd choose the Bell over the MT due to the following;

                  1. Better weight distribution, which reduces fatigue to a great extent.
                  2. Better wind noise isolation, at the same time doesn't fog due to the added went on the visor.
                  3. Better peripheral visibility, the MT absolutely sucked on that front.
                  4. Ages better, quality of padding is commendable as I do not use a separate helmet for regular use, I've left it hanging on the motorcycle during summers and monsoons alike, I do not use a Balaclava and do oil my hair a fair bit, a wash once a year is all that's needed to bring things back to stock form, I just put it into the washing machine and that works well for me.

Just a few observatoions: It kinda makes a squeaky noise when I put it on, it's just new so maybe that's why I noticed it.
It is a little noisy but nowhere near the MT.
The Scorpion is also a good choice but as I needed to use it on the track I needed a double d ring so bought the Bell.
Overall fit and finish seems fine apart from the squeaky noise.

Is the Qualifier allowed on track days? Also, did you get the standard variant or the DLX with the Transitions visor?

Just out of curiosity, did you look into MT Mugello?

Also Qualifier DLX is the version that has a SHARP rating not the Qualifier itself.

In addition Mugello has an extra star over the DLX.

Qualifier DLX is sharp 3 rated not base Qualifier version.

Any ECE certified helmet should be allowed on the track.

                            3. MT Revenge.

Get the Scorpion EXO R390, eyes closed.

Do not fall for SHARP ratings, they are rather easy to cheat and do not take into account the overall fit, finish and comfort of the helmet.

MT Helmets with that budget are a big no no, the quality of paddings and the liners is very poor, the helmets are not rightly balanced it seems (might be to win an extra star in the SHARP testing), and the fit and finish is just not upto the mark for that budget.

I would also recommend you to check HJC CL-17, beautiful helmet.

The quality of liners, padding, visor, almost everything is miles better on the HJC or the Scorpion.
                            Goodluck !

Edit - Just for some reading -

Scorpion EXO 390 flat color costs ₹7499, so does the MT revenge.

                            * Scorpion gets an everclear visor coating for antifog.
                            MT doesn't get any.

                            * Scorpion gets a 5 years warranty, MT gets 2.

                            * Scorpion gets Kwikwik 2 liners, MT doesn't get any good liners. (old mt revenge used to get kwikwik liners)

                            * MT gets a double D ring closure, Scorpion gets a micrometric buckle, both are fine since both are ECE approved.

HJC gets a Double D ring closure, great liners and is a notch above the Scorpion, miles ahead of MT.
