Help with oil change in bajaj avenger 220 cruise
I have bajaj avenger 220 cruise with 7k km running on odometer. I will be servicing it 3rd free service around 10k kms. I want to change the engine oil from bajaj engine oil to better engine oil. My question is can I change oil with other brand on my third free service and which oil to prefer. I have heard great things about motul 300 v can you suggest something.?Tags: None

Topic Approved.
You can change to other oils if they're beyond your prescribed oil grade range (genereally speaking), so for a bike which advocates 20W50, you may use upto 15W50 or 10W50..
I think since your bike has come of age, you can now start using fully synthetic oils like Motul 5100.
Or you can use the mineral oil by Bajaj for one more service, then shift to fully synthetic.
Its generally advisable to go for mineral oils first, then synthetic and then fully synthetic for best results.
However, do NOT use Motul 300v, its a racing motorcycle oil for proper competitions, one which hardly lasts too long on our streetbikes, and has caused immense problems for Duke/RC owners already.
Also, while it may not cause problems in your bike, it won't actually be fruitful enough to justify the price.---

Re: Help with oil change in bajaj avenger 220 cruise
You can use 20w40 or 20w50 for noise reduction. If on higher altitudes, 10w40 is good. Lately, motul has gained too much popularity in india, call it advertisement or social media hoax. I have used motul in avenger but didnt notice any changes. Tried lucas and did see changes. You need to carefully look at api and sae ratings.remember, if you swtich to fully sunthetic oil you can never return to mineral or semi synthetic.
I have honda crf450. Have used only used 20w50(honda reccomemds 10w30). But again- i dont overspeed, dont revv too high, dont over weight

Go with Shell HX3 or AX5 20W50 oil, costs anywhere from 250~280/- per liter, is reputable and consistent, change at strict 2k intervals and keep riding without a care in the world.Originally posted by arifhussain2189 View PostI have bajaj avenger 220 cruise with 7k km running on odometer. Anything expensive is a waste on this motor, plus being Indian people tend to think that the MRP of an oil determines its drain intervals which is as stupid as stupid gets.
Do go through this article when you get the time to know more about how 4T Oils work;
Dan's Motorcycle " 4-Stroke Oil "
This is one of things where you do not listen to your owners manual, the 5k change interval recommended by Bajaj is BullShit and a strategic move for them to make more money.Motorcycling Experience:
