  • NEW to ZMA

    Hi all,
i am planning to get a Karizma after taking the advise from a few people on the forum.
now i have some questions while in am trying to find one for my self.
    1. What if we remove the Faring
    - does it hamper the top speed performance.
    - what would be the best headlight assembly round shaped in the market to be used on the ZMA.
    2 Tubeless tyres
    what would you recomend.
3 Can any one do a quicky paintshop job for me so that i can see how would a black karizma look with the white fuel tank. and white allywheels.
    thanks a lot and

First of all, CONGRATS on getting the best Touring bike in India...

      1. What if we remove the Faring: Why you wana remove the fairing? The only thing it'll do good is it'll lessen the weight, But it'll definately hamper the aerodynamics of the bike.
      - does it hamper the top speed performance: I guess so.
      - what would be the best headlight assembly round shaped in the market to be used on the ZMA: Why just not put a 9 Amp. battery n revive the headlamp by putting on HID.

2 Tubeless tyres: Michelin M45 are good, but I'll suggest MRF Zappers, best for Indian roads n terrain.

3 Can any one do a quicky paintshop job for me so that i can see how would a black karizma look with the white fuel tank. and white allywheels.
thanks a lot: Ummm that'll just look UNIQUE...
White alloys are a good Idea I guess.

I dont like farings on the bike apart from the classics read old cafe racers

The only thing it'll do good is it'll lessen the weight, But it'll definately hamper the aerodynamics of the bike.
Oh yes the aerodynamics i hope that it still would be able to manage 100 all day if yes thats fine then cause i am used to 70 all day with lots of breaks. and i am not botherd about Aerodynamics cause thats just for aero planes

        - does it hamper the top speed performance: I guess so.
        HMM

Why just not put a 9 Amp. battery n revive the headlamp by putting on HID.
Thats a good idea but i would have to save on some money for now so HID would be in some time

        2 Tubeless tyres:
        Michelin M45 are good,
They are good but not tubeless
I'll suggest MRF Zappers, best for Indian roads n terrain.
They are great but hard to find in tubeless for 18"

        Ummm that'll just look UNIQUE...
White alloys are a good Idea I guess.
I know that and i am sure it would look great

Congrats Desideep. Removing fairing hampers the aerodynamics and I would not suggest that. You can PM sankar regarding the fairing removal. He has removed the fairing and reverted back.

M45 is not a tubeless tyre. Tubeless options for karizma are less and include Duro HF, which you can get from KRP. They are relatively better than MRF's.

For round lamps, you can check out TVS round lamp. Their reflectors are nice.

It reads more like from bullets to fast bikes to fast reliable bikes

ZMA's headlight is better than most round lamp assemblies. As for aux HID, check doc arn's setup.

+1 on the aerodynamics - esp for you while crouching.

Do what you will - don't buy IRC street tires. I am totally regretting my 110/80 purchase ( zero grip on marshy/slushy roads)

Do not remove the fairing-I hope you got your answer

Tyres-Tubeless tyre choices in 18" size is limited now.
I got Michelin Sirac 120\80\18 for my zma(yes its a tube type)but I am using it as tubeless.(before some people drop their comments on me,I would like to say that i took a risk and it has paid off well).

                Lights-Get a HID,simple

Please dont use MRF Zappers, there are much better options in market.

                  +1

I have seen Apache RTR uses the same bulb as that of ZMA. But due to it's reflector it is lot more powerful than the stock bulb of ZMA.

                  @ Deep,
Just change the battery to 9amp, put a nightbreaker and a powerful horn.... that's it.........

DD - moving on to a ZMA - seems unthinkable to me... Though I read the earlier topic you had started... but you had been synonymous with BULLS for me man!!! Going to ZMA is something that's yet to get down my throat... but then all's well that end's well...

@ hitanshu's comment - It reads more like from bullets to fast bikes to fast reliable bikes - I would say move from ever reliable bulls to fast two strokes to modern reliable bikes...Cheers

Check up with Vivek's Zma. He has removed the fairing nearly 3 years ago, got a round headlight, CBZ console. You can also go and have a look at 3 or 4 odd Zmas whose fairings have been removed waiting to hit the mountain scene standing at KRP. Also think about the handlebars. He has changed it too. And it is far better when you ride on difficult terrain. He has also raised the seat. You need not do it. I think that you should have a look at it, ride it and see it for yourself.

Vivek has done over 20K kms now on that fairing-less Zma. Even Simba rode it for 2K kms when he was in Delhi with me.
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

DD, a better idea would be to get a 9Ah battery and use a 55W bulb. Am sure that should give better illumination. U can also go the LED way for those pilots and save more power. As for round headlamp sans fairing, many people have complained about the ZMA becoming a bad handler, although I personally have never ridden a ZMA over long distances especially sans fairing.

@Rakesh: I have 120 V-Rubber. Its a decent tyre. I bit on the heavier side but road grip is quite good, skids under heavy braking though. Try to get your hands on MRZ Zapper Q or S. I think they are good tyres, but difficult to get your hands on as they are not that easily available(Atleast in Delhi).

@DD Sir: I would say a good decision Sir. You thinking about the new Fi Karizma or the current one.

Sir as for the removal of fairing, I think it should not hurt if you intend to drive in the city more. On the highway, doing high speed runs I am sure the wind will get more difficult to handle.

As for the light, I am not sure I am also looking for a better option. Zma sock light sucks. I dont think for 55v bulbs you will need a bigger battery as DCS sir is using the Philips Extreme. I am planning to buy the spare one from him. He is pretty happy with it.

As for tubeless tyres Zapper -Q and S. But I could not find them in delhi. If you get a hold of them, do let me know also I guess they are 120/80/. THere are not much options as most hot selling bikes are on 17inch rims so the tyres in the market are also coming for 17in rims. I have a vee-rubber. You can anytime have a ride to test it.

                            Good Luck Sir
