  • HELP: regarding P150 UG2

I have a 2005 model around 50k done (37k on the odo) P150 DTSI UG2 which is running without any problems for all these years!

Since the past 2 years or so, whenever I change my engine oil, its hardly 400-500 ml which actually drains out! (out of the 1 ltr I used to pour)

The first thing I checked/have been checking is for any kind of smoke, but my bike DOESNT emit any kind of smoke....!

Neither is there any kind of oil leakage, obviously apart from the amount what bajaj engines have the right to...

Earlier I was late in changing engine oils (mineral ones) and ran the bike for more than 5-6k kms....

Now last time I used Semi synthetic oil (veedol super swift) and did around 6k on that

A few days back I have put Petronas Fully synthetic oil...!

Please help me in finding out where exactly does the engine oil go.....if its not being eaten by the bike....

dude, Do u change oil between 5-6k kms for mineral & 6K on semi-sync??????? That's a kind of Torchure u've put on ur bike man!!! If i'm right for mineral oil the ideal change period is 2-2.5k the around 3k fr semi synthetic and 4.5-5k for fully synthetic!!! From ur query what i assume is that ur bike has eaten up the oil due to irregular intervals of oil change!!!

bhai, any mineral oil doesnt stay good for more than 2k kms in a pulsar

bad that the UG2 didnt have a glass inspection window.

normally while u run the engine with the same oil for so long, the amount of oil decreases naturally.

that is why top ups are required at every service.

change the oil every 2k kms if they are mineral based. 5k if they are fully synthetic.

BTW how did u measure the oil drained
When everything comes ur way, u r in the wrong way ;)

Yups, I know that I over-ran my bike with same engine oils and that was the reason why I mentioned the changing period..!

I just wanted to know that whether there could be any other reason of a bike eating up oil....!

Never measured it, But it was significantly lesser than what 1 Ltr is....!

              Hey Dude,
Let me explain u...Every oil has its own viscosity which is rated in "w" measurements and this viscosity can withstand only for a certain time and temperature inside the running engine after which it becomes less viscous and worst will be like water in Black colour. As u've mentioned about the irregular oil drains, the viscosity of ur oil has significally gone down leading it to evaporate due to the engine heat and thats why u're witnessing less volume of the oil while draining out... the older oil!!!

Thanks bro for a nice explanation....

Just a little query, How can such a heavy amount of oil evaporate from the closed engine...?

And anyways, if this is the case than I need not worry about my engine's health....!

                  Mate,
The oil evaporates cos its viscosity level reduces due to a long time stress, wear and tear and high temperatures which makes the oil watery and evaporate at a faster rate and u need not worry about the engine if u change ur oil periodically otherwise ur putting stress upon ur engine!!! cheers!!! have a safe drive!

Closed engine? Ever heard of the breather pipe? It is there to allow engine oil fumes to escape.
