    Disk Brake

    One day my disk brake went kaput. I opened the master cylinder and saw that whole fluid dried up and formed a black wet substance. So I cleaned it and filled in new brake fluid.

    Now, the brakes were fine. But there was leakage from the master cylinder. I changed MC kit and they were working fine again.

    Yesterday, I removed my bike's handle to change it. So I removed entire cylinder without opening it. To my surprise, they stopped working. Today I opened the MC lid and closed it. Tied the lever with a tie for about 6 hours. Not the brakes are working fine again.

    I just want to know what my disk brakes are upto? Are they fine or is there something to fix?

      I cannot comment on the whole problem. But there is preventive maintenance involved to avoid such things from happening, change the brake fluid every 1-2 yrs or as per the interval mentioned in your service manual. And keep an eye on the brake fluid level, keep topping up if it's on the lower side.

          I hope if air went through the brake hose ,it should be wiped out or else brake won't work !

            Problem has been solved now, i change the whole master cylinder assembly ,now brakes are working good.

                    after in master cylinder where the mc kit fits
                    there was a scratch ,due to which oil was coming out of the rubber seal ,which was pressed by the lever.
                    Practically once a master cylinder is damaged
                    you cannot bring it to 100% working efficiency.

                          yes its perfect ,the master cylinder costs varies from bike to bike.
                          In my case i got it for 1073 rs bybre(honda) ,whereas rtr 180 ones cost 1800.

                            not 100% true ,leakage can be fixed by changing the MC kit ,which is a part of MC only when the bore on which the MC kit fits is perfect.
                            One or two hairline scratches and your cylinder is gone.

                              Going by your post, I feel you should do a complete bleed out and refill the fluids and check.

                              Might be air inside your system that's playing up tricks.
