  • Activa Servicing Query - High Charges

    Hi Friends,

I recently got servicing done for my Activa which is 10 years old. I was given a whopping bill of INR 8510

The kick start was not working as it was damaged and so was the battery.

But I am unable to digest how could the bill be so much.

Attaching the bill here for some feedback although I feel that the Service Center's, Royal Bike Point (booked through Bro4U), owner was honest.

    Thanks,
    Arpit

The handwriting is pathetic. I am more interested in the 3rd item. It seems to be Magnet Coil Assembly. Was the Activa in non-working condition? Was it not starting? If it was starting then the reason behind Magnet coil assembly is dubious.

Also it would help if I could understand what the hell item 4 and item 9 are.

      Thanks,
      Soumyajit

        Hi Soumyajit,

Yes the Activa was not starting. The battery had died and so had the kick.

Let me get the details for Item 4 and 9 and get back to you.

        Thanks,
        Arpit

If the Active was not working then they can claim it was due to a faulty magnet coil even if that was not the case. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done since you did not check the whole process. Logically, the kick had to be installed first and then you should have checked if current was being generated which would indicate working magnet coil.

Let's take a look at the other items.

Edit: Checked with my friend who works on all my bikes. As per him, the Clutch roller costs 180 and not 390. The Magnetic coil assembly costs 600 - 700 and not 1450.

Also if the self-motor was necessary, original costs more than 1650 most likely so not sure if he installed a used or duplicate one.

From what I can gather, he may have put in all parts necessary but made handsomely on the prices. Please check with authorised Honda ASC once for the prices of these materials. If you see big differences, you can then confront him about the bill. Keeping 50% markup on bike material is ridiculous.

          Thanks,
          Soumyajit

            Hi Soumyajit,

Yes I am following up with the Bro4U Customer Support to get the bill which is readable and better if I can get a printed bill.

I will then connect with Honda ASC and validate the pricing.

Thanks a ton for your inputs. Will get back to you with the updates.

            Thanks,
            Arpit
