    HELP: engine rebore- bhp \ torque

    hi guys,
    i would like to hear abt engine rebore and the corrosponding bhp\ torque increase from experienced guys who had done such mod to whatever bike they have .....

    would appreciate if any buddy give link worth reading of blog or any webpage , cant able to find good page for rebore on indian bikes!

    i currently have unicorn 2005 and want it to be 180+ and looking for good torque profile .. not intrested in topend [120 kmph is enough]

      may be such good all round bikes like the Unicorn are not meant to please you with mod jobs. If you want a little bit more punch you might want to do what HH did to the Unicorn engine to get the CBZ Xtreme. Even with that the engines looses its super smooth character and gives vibes at some speeds.

        looks department is still very satisfactory and just power increase became a need... it has to be stronger now and more torquy to support the heavy skelton ... moreover i m not planning to use it more then 2 y from now so i m very much ok with some play on engine !

          firstly ask yourself "do i really want to do this" since a modded bike can never match the reliability refinement and efficiency of a stock setup..you can expect lot more break downs..the amount of involment in the technical aspects or your ride will also have to increase..if you dont have a problem with the above you can go ahead..

          btw a big bore will sure have increased torque...you can simple take your cylinder to a rebore shop and show him the size of the piston you wish to put in...he will trim the cylinder accordingly..but u cant expect much gains in power/top end unless the head is also ported(which requires some serious experience) plonk in and a free flow exaust/filter along with bigger jets..and your a wee bit faster..all the best

            ^even after all this you wont get any out of the world performance figures so my bet is dont go for it .

                exactly!...instead of spending money modding your uni.. keep it for commuting and buy a bigger 2nd hand bike....its more VFM anyday

                  I have done my share of big bores.
                  A few of my builds are,
                  Fiero 200cc.
                  Unicorn 200cc and 180cc
                  My RTR 170cc
                  Fiero 165cc
                  Fiero 180cc
                  Karizma 230cc
                  Unicorn 165cc
                  RTR 165

                  It all depends on how you build to make it reliable.
                  My Fiero 200 was my daily ride for 3 yrs. Its awaiting a rebuild and will be back on streets soon. I have clocked some 40k kms without various set-ups and power rated over 20bhp on the dyno. true speed was 145kmph.
                  Not everyone can build a reliable big-bore and not all big-bores will give performance.

                  The most solid and robust big-bore builds are on the Fiero/RTR platform. The crank can take more beating than any other.

                        The big-bore uni clocked 126kmph in some 600-700mtrs on the gun. Was way faster than an R15 from the word GO.
                        There are a few details about the bike on the Speedcheck G2G thread. And pics too.
                        The engine was for all-out performance and my friend wanted a drag spec engine. I ran a different CDI and the engine would rev till a heady 11500rpm. Anyways, thats a different story.

                          zma crank shaft on uni..?? how is that ??? also since i moded the CR i m basically limited to 12.2 :1 CR and thus 180.040 cc max .....
