    Help with braking method

    I've got a R15 V3, and I've started to brake by downshifting (The bike comes with slip and assist clutch) and then applying the brakes.

    The speed drop is almost instant and I don't have to worry about the rear end sliding out during heavy braking situations, and I'll be honest - The sound it makes when the rpms go high sounds kinda cool.

    What I want to know is that, is it a proper method to brake and if it's doing my bike any harm by utilizing this method?

      Downshifting to brake puts extra load on the transmission and engine. In fact, every time we accidentally downshift when pulling the throttle (happens to me mostly when riding two bikes back to back with opposite shifting patterns), it puts load on the bike. But since those incidents are too few and far between, it does not have a huge impact in the long run. But making a habit of downshifting to brake will definitely take its toll on the gearbox and engine as a whole and you might have to replace certain parts at an earlier time than you should have. Gearbox ain't cheap. Avoid this habit it at all costs.

        Thank you for the reply, I'll try not to do such type of braking. You saved me a lot of money 😋
