    Suzuki Gixxer 155

    Guys I am facing a problem with my Gixxer 155.

    This is my first post on xBhp. My bike is just 6 months old (almost 5K kms) and the engine oil is burning up after some 1000 kms after an oil change. The SVC guy told me I should replace the piston and cylinder and I did, so they said that problem might occur due to high speeds during the running in period. But I am absolutely sure that I didn't go over 4k rpm in any gear as the recommended limit before the 1st service.

    Is this due to a manufacturing defect or running in at 4K rpm caused a problem? Also the bike makes tik tik sounds, the mechanic said that it was due to timing chain problem, common with almost all Gixxers and he had it replaced. But even after replacing it, the sound still persists. Is it due to improper valve clearance?

    Pls help me out.

        This is a common issue with Gixxers. Even my Gixxer had to go through that stage where I had to replace the piston, piston ring and cylinder head. But sadly even after that the engine oil level used to decrease quite significantly after 2.5k-3k kms. I did push my bike quite a bit but didn't redline it often. So my suggestion will be replace the oil after every 3k kms. Also the tik tik noise, the way you are mentioning, I think you should try to compare it with other gixxers, as much as I remember there was tik tik noise but not very significant. So try to know about other gixxers.

          Japanese reliability is a myth! Atleast, indian manufacturers doesn't have such reliability issues [emoji23][emoji23]

            I have checked.. The tik tik sound is much more when the engine is cold.. After warming up it reduces but doesn't fade away... Its like someone's beating with a hammer from the inside.. I dont know why such problems arise for a new bike even though it was properly taken care of.... The lazy svc guys says its normal amd will be cleared in next service as when i reach the service centre the engine is quite hot and the sound reduces And the situation now is that eventually i go to svs every 2 weeks because one after the other a new problem arises

              Tensioner. Please get them replaced, it costs some INR 90.

                Check spark plug color, i think your bike is running on lean air fuel ratio thats why heating up, and dont use synthetic oil, try mineral oil next time.
