  • Smoke in morning start

Hey friends, I have a Pulsar 150 2009. Since the past 2 days, when I start my bike in the morning (quite chilly) it gives out white smoke and that too quite a big amount for a minute or so. After that it becomes normal and there is no visible smoke for whole day riding in both city and highways.

Can anybody tell me why this is happening?

I think that's normal. Even my FZ-S was smoking when fired up in the morning. No smokes throughout the entire day after that.
There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Usually a lot of smoke is produced when the piston rigs go bust and the engine oil starts seeping in the combustion chamber.
But that smoke is produced all the time when the engine is running. As you said the there is no smoke after the morning start, the smoke you see might be due to condensation inside the silencer or fuel not burning properly in the cold due to used up spark plugs (I'm just speculating).

First, open up the spark plug and see its condition. Good idle spark plug images and compare it with the Google images. It will show you other spark plugs with too rich or too lean Air to fuel mixture. Replace the spark plug and make sure the AFR ratio is tuned. That should eliminate most of the smoke.
Also, check your engine oil level regularly, if you notice any drop in the level, the piston rigs might have gone kaput and you might need some engine work done from a good mech.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Condensation smoke, do not worry. My motorcycle does that too, p150 ug4.5 and I am at Uttarakhand, a cold place. It smokes the hookah for few minutes after which all goes well.

First make sure that it is indeed white smoke and NOT blueish smoke.
My car spews blue smoke when I crank first thing in the morning and then throughout the day it is fine.
The engine is very old, and the piston seals are showing it's age.
