  • Claiming insurance on a new Scooter before getting a number plate.

Hello guys. I bought a new Suzuki Burgman street at 9th January 2018. Now in Gujarat registration process takes time. I paid ex showroom price with paytm and rest of insurance and road tax with cash. I bought it from Vadodara, Gujarat. And had to register in Bharuch. So even before i submit CRTM papers in Bharuch RTO. A mishap happened and it got involved in an accident. Most of the right side parts needs to be changed. Accident took place at 13th january. Because of holiday season i had dropped scooter for repair at 16th January. They took it and claimed the insurance (ICICI insurance).

Now the question is do i need to register the vehicle before i claim. I mean the guys there at workshop are very positive about claiming it without registration. Since it's new scooter and i have every right to claim it before registration. But the guy said few parts are yet to come. So it'll take minimum 20-25 days for repairs and i will have to wait.

What's the maximum period when i can claim insurance before registration? Any rule? Days? Months?

It's not a cashless insurance. So i have to pay after repairs and the guy there said insurer company will pay you back in 15 days? Is it true?

Is it okay that my scooter laying there for almost a month and i will register it afterwards. Any problem with that?

This is the first time I'm claiming insurance on any of bikes i have owned for the first time. And feeling really bad for the circumstances i have to claim it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Am really lost....

I mean the guy there didn't say anything negative. He just said it a would be done. But am still worried. The expense there seems at lease 10 to 15k. And i haven't even done registration of scooter. I believe Gujarat RTO gives maximum 15 days for registration and than penalty of 500. Something like that. Shed some lights experts. Please.
