  • HELP: Upgrades for my Rexy Babe!

    HI FRIENDS,

Firstly abt my babe, She is an RX135 4speed purchased on 16th Aug 2001. Has been absolutely stock till date with no changes at all. She has traversed abt 12000kms as of now.

N yes we are inseperable, we have travelled from Bhopal(thats where i purchased her) to Hyderabad, to Vizag, to Bhubhaneswar n now back in Hyderabad(all the places that i have worked).

Now after 8 years of our bonding i want to reward her for being the great companion that she has been. I would like to spruce her up ie in terms of performance and also cosmetically(dont worry i wont kill you by asking how to go about with the cosmetic part.... lols ).

First thing that i am interested in is giving her a change of exhaust. I have been driving her on the CatCon silencer which is a bit boring. I was intending to order the KRP one from the manufacturers but after reading certain posts i am in 2 minds now. guide me on this.

Second is the change of air filter. I've heard K&N's are really good, what other alternatives can you suggest me.

Next on my list is a change of sprocket. I am intending to change the rear ones from stock 34 to 39 as i am looking at a better top end. Correct/suggest me what needs to be done in this regards.

Currently my bike has an excellent pick up and surprisingly gives me a mileage in the range of 42-45, which is impressive considering the way i drive as i am used to redlining her as often as possible, and in hyderabad(where my bike has spent most of her time) it is very rare that you get to drive constatntly in the top gear.

And finally the BIG question (which always bugs me before i think of any kind of mods, n probably thats what has held me back from taking the plunge so long) is that with all the aforementioned mods will my baby still maintain to have the GREAT pick-up that she has, cause i have heard that tinkering with the sprockets ie increasing teeth at the rear reduces the bikes poke. Also can i expect similar mileage post modification, though it is not much of a concern???

Sorry to have bugged you guys with such a long post, but i love my babe the way she is and always have this question in mind that what if these mods dont turn out favourable. I hope you guys understand the bonding.

Thank you and awaiting a response soon.
    Aby Baby
