  • [Photo Feature]: Help needed for CBR 250R

Hi friends. This is my first post in the forum. I have been planning to buy a pre-owned cbr 250r. I came across a listing on OLX. 2015 model, 12000 kms run, red non abs model. Owner has quoted r/s 85000 for the bike. Haven’t physically seen it yet but in pictures it looks in a decent condition.

    What do u guys suggest??

      Hey buddy,

When you go to inspect the motorcycle ask for a few things like service record, original owner's manual, why the guy's selling it and if the vehicle was ever involved in an accident or if it fell down.
On the vehicle itself, try to get the motorcycle to start in a cold condition, hear the engine sound carefully, let it idle and check for any rattlings or general behaviour of the bike, check tyre tread, chain condition and match the chassis number with that on the RC. I'm not a professional but these are the things I check.

When you take the ride for a spin be very careful about the kind of sound you get from the engine. Every bike pulls when revved but those with issues have a higher chance of giving away at this stage.

Good luck, CBR is a wonderful motorcycle

      Happy riding

Ask out your friends if they have a good relation to a good mechanic.
and show that bike to your mechanic.

Re: Help needed for CBR 250R

Neo 77K pretty much sums it up. i bought my 2011 CBR ABS model about a year ago.

few other things you will need to look out for
            1. All the lights and functions of the instrument cluster are working. ABS light on my bike didn't work but the ABS works i checked. the clock only shows 12:00 all the time and it cannot be set. the analogue needle doesn't do a full sweep upon startup. i got it checked from the ASC they say the console has a problem but it will function just fine.

2.the other important thing is the faring. check if all the contact points be it with bolts or clips are tight and have not broken off. they are the first things to get damaged when there is a crash and very expensive to repair.

3.Also hold the front brake and apply pressure on the handle bars to check the front suspension, any signs of fork oil leak could also needs to be checked. uneven wear on the front Tyre can be a good indication of suspension problems.

4.check out both the disks brakes for wear and cracks.

            5. check out the remaining life of the break pads using a torch of mobile flash light.

these are the few things that will give you an idea of how much you will be spending on getting the bike back to tip top condition.

one suggestion i would like to make is if you are looking to tour on this look for a ABS version. its definitely worth it. stopping power is also better on the ABS version. CBR is an excellent bike for touring you will need to get adjusted to the riding position if you are coming form other types of bikes otherwise its the best tourer in in price range.

            cheers
