  • FZ v2 fuel meter problem

    Greetings xBhpians.
Currently I own an FZ v2 FI.
Personally I don't like the FZ. It is very scary to tamper. Previously when I owned FZ 16, I used to do all the opening of the carburettor.
My problem is that in my bike, the fuel meter's last line disappears and only the fuel indicator starts blinking but when I open up the tank I can still see around 2 litres of petrol left. I want to know, is this some kind of problem with my fuel meter?

It cause due to two things. May your fuel gauge in tank is not working or may be your meter pcb got some problem. First clean your tank and uninstall fuel gauge and then reinstall it. If then after its not working then check your meter circuit board.

I suspect that Yamaha has designed it like that to scare people into refueling the tank as soon as possible. You do know that FI bikes are not meant to ride with low or empty fuel tanks? As soon as the tank runs dry, the fuel pump (wet type) will get damaged due to dry friction. Also, in the long term, there will always be some gunk and residue at the bottom of the tank and if you constantly keep the tank at low levels, all that gunk will go into the fuel pump easily and clog it. So I would advice you to refuel the tank as soon as you see the fuel indicator blinking and not to ride too long with low fuel.

I have owned a Karizma ZMR (closed loop PGMFI) since 2009 and I have never kept the fuel tank below 4-5 litres, hence my fuel injectors are still in pristine condition. Do note that I have been putting a petrol additive since day 1 called System-G, maybe it works I can't be sure, but it's a nice & cheap assurance for my mind.
