I own TVS Apache 160 RTR with front disk brakes only. Its now almost 1 year old, now a days, I am facing issues with disk brakes, its go on making noise, is it normal for disk brake or Apache?

Show-room option is useless in my case.. those guys are not good for this..

perhaps its the time to replace disc pads...

Thank you very much people,especially insanebiker,rennycornelius,Aparajith & Dogg for raising my awareness about "swingarm".

I think my rear disc plate & brake pads were eaten away 5 times in a row because of a faulty swingarm.I think it would be wiser to replace the swingarm,rear disc plate & brake pads at my own expense rather than keeping the bike with the TVS service centre for almost a week where they have replaced only the disc plate every time i went there with my complaint ,without ever bothering to know how could the same problem repeat itself so many times.

And to top it all,the TVS service engineer for Hyderabad (Mr Surinder Babu-MOB:09440611584) is highly incompetent.He was always my first point of contact every time the rear disc issue cropped up.I think all he used to do was,sign some papers authorising the disc plate replacement without ever wondering why the same problem every time.

Please advice people.Is it wise to replace swingarm or is it wiser to go through the service centre?

Yes, but not now... will be doing it in couple of months.... after taking some expert technician's opinion from Pune.

How many kilometers have you clocked till now? If it's above 8000kms then perhaps you should get your disc pads changed as soon as possible or else it will eat up your disc as well and that will be quite an expensive affair.

It has hardly touched 5500KMs up till now..

Some Things Never Change

Hi!,This is Sandybaba again.It's been a year since i posted this thread.I am thankful to all of you guys who advised me about how to get rid of this problem.But some things in life never change.My problem remains unchanged.The guys at Kiran Komercials never replaced my swingarm inspite of repeated pleas,even though i agreed to bear all the expenses.I requested Mr. Srinivas,the service centre manager at Kiran Komercials to replace the rear disc brake setup with a drum brake,again agreeing to bear all the expenses on 2nd April 2010.I went to get my bike on 7th April & was shocked (c'mon-i am used to it now) to know that the rear drum brake was not installed as it was not in stock.It's been a month now & it's still not in stock.Maybe i must wait for divine intervention or maybe i should just sell off this bike (Apache RTR Fi) to an unsuspecting fool just like me & others out there.
