  • Free play in 200 Duke gear-shifter

    Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum. I just got a Duke 200 about 2 weeks ago and I noticed there is a bit of free play in gear-shifter, about 4-5mm. Is this normal? I checked with my friends 1-year old R15 V3, there is no free play in shifter. Sorry if i'm worrying too much. It's just that it is my 1st bike and I don't want to see any problem this early.

    Duke owners, please help.

Guys, one more bad thing happened today. One of my idiotic friend asked me or should i say begged me for a ride on my duke 200 which is 3 weeks old. I agreed but he lugged the engine at 25kmph on 6th gear, going up on a steep road, But only for a minute or so. Will this cause any permanent damage to engine in future.
      Bike experts, Please help.

          Thanks man,
I was worried. I'm 18 and just learned how to ride and got duke 200 recently. Sorry if i sounded like a noob. I'm still learning about bike maintainance. Just wanted to make sure nothing in my bike is damaged or cause trouble in future.

            No worries bro.

We are here to help. Ask as many questions as you like. Gain as much knowledge as you can and be a safe and responsible rider..

Regarding the shifter free play, ask this query in the ownership thread, the long time owners will give much more and detailed info.
also when you go for first service check the shifters of other dukes there and then request the mech to check it.

Ride safe brother. enjoy your new ride. Always wear your helmet.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Lugging the engine for short time won't harm anything.
Just don't make a habit out of it. Don't give your bike to anyone who rides rash or abuses your ride.
