U can go for Castrol Activ Xtra. It s a mineral oil. U should use mineral oil atleast till the run-in is over.Originally posted by arvindraju View Post

Which bike and which Shell bunk? Mulshi Rd or Hinjewadi? Have used Shell (Mulshi Rd) many times. I don't find any difference compared to BPCL (RTO)... bikes sound more or less equally smooth.Originally posted by ]|[ GorE View PostI have exactly the same experience as you in Pune. The engine does sound rougher,especially the exhaust.
Dude, I belive there is a list of 20W50 oils mentioned in the oil thread. You could check out the other options. Amongst others Valvoline and MAK are options.^^^ Castrol Activ Xtra best for now ? alteast till i reach the running period ?Last edited by Raccoon; 05-28-2009, 01:17 PM.

Ooops ok. I guess the Valvoline is a semi-synth.Originally posted by insanebiker View Post^ Mr Raccoon, there is NO 20W50 Mineral oil by Valvoline. Otherwise i would have recommended it to him
Have not used MAK, so cant comment on it.
Hmm... I'd imagine they get the same gas... prolly from the same tankers. But then who knows. Shell (Mulshi Rd) and BPCL (RTO) are the only places I get the juice from.Originally posted by ]|[ GorE View PostRaccoon,I only frequent the Hinjewadi Shell pump.

Shell has the purified form of Fuel -- the scenario is perhaps quite opposite in my case......
The rougher engine went smoother and smoother on a long run and marginal increase in Pickup....was also seen with Shell Super Unleaded.....
Ive also tested the Ordinaru Unleaded pertrol from Shell --- it also does the job --- but not as better as Shell Super Unleaded...

how does the Valvoline 4T Premium Fare Against the Castrol Activ Xtra ?
Lubricants ::Valvoline Cummins::
both are , SAE 20W50, JASO T903
but Castrol Activ Xtra is mineral where as Valvoline 4T Premium is Synthetic Blend

update : done with the shell fuel in my tank
,topped it up with BP's Speed on speed pujari's advice
engine feels way better now,gear changes are better & the exhaust is sweet
the combination of BP's speed & Castrol Activ Xtra 4T 20W50 seems to working good
looking to move over to semi synthetic ones the runin is done
i have Tried:
* HP
* Shell unleaded
* BP's Normal Unleaded
* BP's Speed
BP's speed seems to be a clear winner
avengers are indeed sensitive to oil & Fuel Changes,shell does add to the pepiness in the pickup,but makes the engine rough
. BP's Speed seems to have the right balance of all

I guess the problem is the different octane numbers. Shell is 91 and BP is 89. So the mixture didn't suit the bike. Prolly you can empty the tank and then fill shell. If the problem persists, then switch back to BP since shell is not meant for for your bike.
Source: Octane rating - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaThe octane rating is a measure of the resistance of gasoline and other fuels to detonation (engine knocking) in spark-ignition internal combustion engines. High-performance engines typically have higher compression ratios and are therefore more prone to detonation, so they require higher octane fuel. A lower-performance engine will not generally perform better with high-octane fuel, since the compression ratio is fixed by the engine design.
