  • Hyosung Aquila GV650 pro

    Hello,
I own a Hyosung Aquila GV650 pro oct2018 made ABS variant.

Recently I am encountering trouble with Battery. Please suggest me a battery to avoid any further issues. Which one is better (AGM 'or' Lithium ion)

(I went on a drive over a sunny day and engine got hotter in city drive. I stopped the vehicle and when I attempted to start its giving trouble. I waited for 15min still same prob..
I pushed the vehicle to my cellar parking and over the ramp went down & I was able to start bike over clutch force by putting vehicle on third gear in the momentum) this ensured me problem is with battery.

I drive bike on daily basis. For 20-20km(40km a day least)

I reside in Hyderabad,India where climate is usually 45-50° lowest could go to 15°

    Please PM me :- https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/private...newpm&u=103048

Topic Approved. Moved to Help Section.

Lithium Ion is the one used in your mobile phones & laptops and all.

    Merits:-
    1. Smaller, lightweight, for same amount of current.
    2. Doesn't leak,
    3. More reliable and much longer life, (1000 charge cycles)

    Demerits:-
    1. Generally considered more "explosive", but its relatively safe nowadays, unless short circuited (They're generally IPxx rated for water protection, so no worries there).
    2. Costly!

For this reason, Li-Ion batteries are used in expensive, limited edition and rarely in racing bikes too, when they have a starter.

Hi. First things first. Did u buy the bike new or 2nd hand. If new it is still under warranty or not. A battery shud not give way in 1 yr. Especially since u are using it regularly. Please check the three wires coming out from the stator and going to the rectifier.
Start the bike and measure the voltage across the three wires. With the engine at around 5000 rpm, u shud get 70VAC between them. That means ur stator is producing enuf current as per specs. Next check the voltage going from the rectifier to the battery. U shud be getting around 14.5 volts here with engine on.
Now if u r getting 14.5 vdc here and battery is not charging then u can assume that the battery is kaput.
The regulator/ rectifiers on hyosungs have a looooong history of failure across the world. If u r under warranty, get ur RR replaced. If u r out of warranty, get a better RR. to know which one, please refer owners experience page for the hyosung ST7. hope this helps. Hello,
        Thanks for replying me.

Yes it is a New bike, for first 4 months I never had a issue, later it started giving me trouble.

Yes everything is under warranty since I got the delivery on December 29th.

I spoke with Motoroyale people they asked me to get the vehicle and try are gonna review and update me.

        Hopefully my trouble stops here.

Main issue is vehicle is not starting when it's bit hot, although vehicle dosent show F1.

Yes the bike doesnt start after getting hot is because it gets to hot for the rectifier, and the diodes stop functioning. Please carry out the test as I told you.
There are 3 yellow wires that come out from the stator and go to the RR(REGULATOR RECTIFIER). This shud be under the aircowl on the left side. The three wires are plugged into the rr. Take the plug off and u will see the three connectors there. Get a friend to start the bike and hold throttle at around 5000 rpm. Doesnt need to be exact. Ur idle rpm is around 1500 so take a guess what 5000 shud sound like. Now take a multimeter and set it on 100Volt AC. check the voltage between connectors 1 and 2, 2 and 3,1 and 3. Each of them should give u approx 70 Volts AC. Then u can be sure ur stator is producing enuf current.
Now from the RR, there are 2 wires going to the battery. These shud be send ding approx 14.5 Volts DC to battery when engine is running. For this u dont need to check at the terminal. Just check battery voltage when engine is stopped. It shud be around 12 to 12.5 Volts(DC). Dont forget to change ur multimeter from AC TO DC[emoji846].
Again check voltage qt battery terminals after engine is on, it shud show around 14.5VDC.
that means ur battery is charging via RR. If it doesnt show 14.5 v, that means ur RR is defective.
You dong need service centre to do this. You can do this ur self.its ur bike and u shud get to know it intimately. Trust me if u resolve this and take care of ur bikes routine maintenance, you will never have a problem. This is by far the only issue with hyosungs. I replaced my RR the day I got out of warranty. I had made preparations to import a far superior RR in advance. There was nothing wrong with my original RR but I still changed it coz it does give problems. The aftermarket RR is semicondutor based rather than diode based. Hence it does not heat up as much. Secondly it has a much larger surface area compared to the OEM RR. You can buy one which is a straight plug and play for ur bike. Only u will need to solder the 3 wires coming from the stator to the new connector. This is not a very big job at all.
The new RR comes with instructions and an inline 30amp fuse also. You can connect it directly to the battery rather than the bike's wiring harness.
Buy it from Jack, at www.roadstercycle.com
          Hope this helps.

                Hello Jack,
                My number/WhatsApp is +919533275012.

I still have not tried your method. Few days back I bought a battery charger and after full charge my bike started and I went on 2 short drive (40-60km) in distance.
(I have tested by turn on and off engine for 10 times it worked just fine)

Later for a week I haven't drove the bike due to weather and road conditions at my place. Yesterday I had take my bike out and it's started.

Seems I need to change the RR as you have suggested it might solve the trouble of turning on vehicle when it's bit hot.
