  • Pulsar 200 NS BS4 different clutch assembly than BS3

    Hi All,

I have been facing top speed issues. My bike wont cross 96 KMPH in 6th gear. (30000km completed, problem started at 19000 km). I checked carb it is ok and does its job at lower speeds and gears well. I can pull till redline in lower gears.
I checked with any experienced mechanic. When he opened the clutch assembly to his surprise Pulsar 200 NS BS4 had the clutch assembly of RS 200. Also my clutch plates are worn out (I ride very sanely, this was too early for them to get worn out, maybe lower quality in BS4). I checked on 99RPM also. For BS4, the clutch assembly is of RS200 (though the picture they have provided is of BS3). Product codes actually match. He said it is a lot different and may be that is why I am facing the top speed and clutch issues like rock hard shifts. He suggested to search for BS3 clutch assembly. I check everywhere, it is discontinued. Even on 99RPM it is discontinued. Here is the difference between two:

I have finally decided to keep the assembly and replace the clutch plates with RS 200 ones. I have checked in the forum. Many NS 200 BS4 owners are complaining about low top speed issues. Also, one of my friend's clutch plates are also gone. On youtube also several videos of BS4 model clutch plate replacement.

My question is to the experienced people. Looking at the images what is the benefit of Judder spring and washer given in BS3 clutch plates. Also, will my clutch plate again get worn out in the next 19000 km due to such poor quality? I have seen BS3 NS people are very happy with their clutch.

    Kindly reply.

    Thanks,
    Neetin

It's not the problem with the clutch.. it's the problem with the carb!.. carb may seem fine, but it's actually when you are around 7k rpm.. the carb is tired to pass the petrol to the piston where it can be combustioned properly! I'm using a BS4 2017 NS200 model... I'm right now at 45k Kms done.. this problem started at 17k.. I changed it ( carb ) at 28000kms.. it ram smoothly and brilliantly.. but again after 40k Kms.. it started again...

If it's a clutch problem you will feel rubberband effect. Like a scooter ie.activa, Jupiter, access.
Whenever you hard accelerate your clutch will start slipping causing you engine RPM to go high. But the bike won't respond in terms of pulling or acceleration.
As per the part image you've shown from 99rpm. I could see there is no judder springs in BS4 model.
You can buy KTM D200 clutch assembly instead. It does come with judder springs still.
        Also it handles power better..
