Serious Issue: TVS Wego Stalls During Rains
Good Day Everyone,
I’m facing a peculiar problem with my 6 year old TVS Wego.
I have noticed this for past couple of years, come every monsoon it happens. The scooter stalls in the middle of road while riding if it’s raining.
If I remember for past similar experiences the mechanics (TVS/Local) told me that water must have gone into the fuel tank and both fuel tank and carb would require cleaning. And after that the bike would run for few more days and the problem would reoccur after few days. So I used to avoid taking the scooter out in the rains. It does not behave like this in any other seasons. I am in Mumbai.
Fast forward to last weeks shower, I had taken the bike to office on the way home it suddenly started raining and boom the problem started again it stalled in busy traffic junction this time and there was a bus behind and maybe the driver realized something and applied the brakes at the right moment and I was saved.
Here is how I got home after that in the rain.
1) Kept the choke on started the scooter rode it for 2-3 mins turned the choke off, the bike ran normal for few feet’s and stalled again on speed breaker when I slowed down.
2) I realized that giving the throttle continuously not fully but in control, like throttle-release-throttle-release would keep the scooter alive for more time but still it stalled for 1-2 times. But ultimately this is how I was able to reach home.
Next day there was no rain.
The Scooter started up fine it was normal for almost 4 kms of ride, no stalls nothing.
So please help me understand to diagnose the problem. Below are my views.
Why I have ruled out water leakage you might ask, its because the scooter is running fine on the same fuel to this day if water was mixed then it would stall even when there was no rain.
I may be wrong hence need assistance of experienced members out here as what can be the issue so that I can have it fixed asap.

- Here is my understanding from this whole scenario, when the air gets heavy/dense due to rain/moisture the engine stalls (culprit air filter or AFR not set right)
- There is some short circuit happening when it rains and causes the stall.
