  • I bought showroom Display bike Benelli TNT 600 GT from closed/discontinued DSK-Benelli showroom

    Hi all,
    I am new here,

    Long story short:

I am from Maharashtra and bought Showroom Display bike Benelli TNT 600 GT from closed/discontinued DSK-Benelli showroom from another state as it was listed on OLX for a lower rate than MRP and was/is Brand New bike.

I paid the full amount via bank transfer, and transportation charges and brought the bike to my state.

Its been 45 days and seller haven't provided me CRTM(temporary registration) yet, he is saying his (showrooms) CRTM making login ID is disabled by RTO guys as showroom is closed from some time and he is in the process of asking RTO guys to temporarily activate it so that he can issue CRTM to me and to other 4 guys he sold his remaining bikes.

What should I do next? What are my options? Have I been scammed? (please read the long story to understand why I feel like this)

    Thanks for your time.

He might be a member here, so I won't name him yet as I am still waiting for the CRTM and the original invoice. At the time of bike transportation, he asked his mechanic friend to provide a temporary invoice to the tempo wala in case cops stop the tempo in the transit and ask for bike documents.

    ================================================== ======================================

    Short story long:

I have been dreaming to own highspeed bike with an inline-4 cylinder engine since my childhood (I mean who doesn't) but money is the main reason, I never got one.

Once I was visiting Pune for my work and I was at a signal stop and there comes this roaring inline 4 bike. before I could catch its name, the biker was long gone. I was only able to catch a glimpse of IXIL written on the rear end. After googling ixil, I found Benelli 600 + twin ixil combo. And I fell in love with that sound but after looking at its seating posture I was not completely happy and kept looking at what other models were there and then I found Benelli 600 GT. And fell in love with it, the same roaring sound, upright seating posture, that awesome and dashing look from the front. I started browsing OLX everyday and watching youtube videos and started dreaming about it. Months and months passed and I started saving to get my hands on a used Benelli 600 GT. Then came the news that Benelli had discontinued the model 600 GT I was heartbroken but my daily struggle continued.

Days passed by and I found an ad on OLX for a Benelli 600 GT by the closed/discontinued Benelli showroom owner.

It was priced higher than a used one but lower than the MRP as it was a discontinued model but being brand new at a low price, I was blinded by my love/craze for the bike as it was going to be my first, first-hand bike.

As I am from a middle-class family, my first bike was a used CBZ 150cc. When it was discontinued, then a used Karizma R. when it was discontinued and when I was planning to buy a used Benelli 600 GT, I found a brand new one for a slightly extra price. you can understand my situation.

I contacted number from the Olx ad, he said its a DSK-Benelli display bike being sold as the showroom is closed and the bike is used only for shows in the local city. Running was approx 50-100 kms. after some bargaining, we both agreed on price.

I wanted it to be registered in my state and I wanted to be the first owner, he said he will provide CRTM (temporary registration) and I can register with my local RTO (I confirmed this with my local RTO agent).

I went to his state/city to check the bike.

The bike was parked at his friend's place. We went there. He and his mechanic friends tried to start the bike but the bike did not start as it was off for so long. We all thought that the battery must have died, so asked his mechanic friend to take this bike to his garage and change the battery and give me a test ride.

Even after changing the battery, the bike didn't start. I waited 2-3 days in his city, waiting for the bike to get started. Then I came back to my place. He told me he would call me once the bike starts and I can have a test ride and decide if I wanted to buy the bike.

15 days passed. I kept on calling him and enquiring about the bike.

After a month from my first visit, I got a call that bike has started and they had to replace the fuel pump, as it was jammed due to bike sitting for a long time.

Then I went again to his city/state and took a test ride, made full payment via bank transfer. He arranged the tempo, I paid fully for tempo. It was dedicated tempo just for my bike as I didn't want anything to happen to the bike while in transit.

We loaded the bike in the tempo at the time of bike transportation he asked his mechanic friend to provide a temporary invoice to the tempo wala in case cops stop the tempo in the transit and ask for bike documents. So his mechanic friend did give a temporary invoice just for transit and asked me to throw the documents once I get the bike at my place.

He said it will take 1 week for him to get the CRTM and he will send me CRTM along with original invoice via courier.

I came back to my place, 2 days later tempo arrived at my home. we offloaded the bike and did some test rides.

I Ordered a crash guard from aliexpress. I ordered ixil exhaust from an authorised dealer. Now the only thing missing was the CRTM from him. Today it has been 45 days since I received the bike.

It’s been 30 days since I rode it because it is not completely my bike yet.

The guy is saying his (showrooms) CRTM making login ID is disabled by RTO guys as the showroom is closed from some time and he is in the process of asking RTO guys to temporarily activate it so that he can issue CRTM to me and to other 4 guys he sold his remaining bikes.
2 days back, I called one of my friends and told him my story and he said I have been scammed, so I called my local RTO agent and told him the story and he said there were similar cases in the past. And if no CRTM then no registration. No registration equals no insurance.

What should I do next? What are my options? Have I been scammed? Or am I being paranoid?

    Thanks for your time.

About the guy I bought the bike from, he is rich, humble, polite and answers 25-30% of my calls (maybe he is too busy). He gives me the same reason every-time and asks me to wait 2-3 days more. The bike is BS4 so I guess there is a deadline coming near for BS4 vehicle registration.

I still dream of riding my dream bike. It's parked in front of my home, can't use it as it's not registered yet.

    Will post some pics tomorrow.

    Peace out.

Sorry to hear this buddy, after reading the whole thing I really feel bad.

As long you have not transferred the Road tax amount to the dealer you are still in some luck.
Along with CRTM and Invoice try if you can a hold of the Form 22 from him (also known as road-worthiness certificate) which will be given by Benelli to dealer, this will be presented to the RTO during registration.

Hope everything gets sorted out soon.

                    Hi again, sorry for delay.
around a month back, when i called the seller to enuire about CRTM he told me, the RTO guys are giving him trouble and they are asking to see his showroom so that RTO guys can reactivate his CRTM login ID (as he doesnt have showrrom now as it was closed ) and it will take some time, so he asked me to go to nearest benelli and explain the current situation to them and ask them if they can provide CRTM on his behalf and he will transfer bike to the Benelli showroom.

so i went to the showrrom nearby and asked them the same and they told me its not possible as everyting is online now, only seller can issue CRTM , nobody else.
i enquired with some RTO officials and they said, without CRTM they cant do anything. I even enquired to one RTO agent and he said , he can try to register the bike without CRTM, i have yet to hear back from him.

update: today 4 months completed , since i received the bike.

Seller was still saying that he needed couple of more days when i contacted him on 19th september.

every sunday i start bike and keep it on idle for 10-20 minutes, so that engine internals wont get jammed or battery wont die.,

                    still waiting for the

                    1) CRTM (from the seller)
                    2) insurance (i will get this online)
                    3) RTO registration
                    4) Take bike to service centre for servicing
                    5) Installing Crash Gaurd
                    6) Installing IXIL exhaust.

thank you guys, subscribe to this thread, so you will get future updates., i will keep you guys updated.

                    thanks.

Why do not you go and meet him directly. No matter if it is a display bike, he should be having the temporary registration and insurance (for demo bike). Do you mind sharing the location of the seller? If it is in MP then I might be of some help.

from what i understand/understood , from my and sellers discussion is.

showroom owner needs to generate CRTM from vahaan portal or something like that.
and showroom owner can generate CRTM once bike is sold, as after generating CRTM there is time window e.g. 30-45 days in which bike has to be registered with RTO (i.e. permanent registration)

and for showroom owner to generate CRTM , he/she needs working login ID to vahaan portal of RTO.

and the same login id gets blocked if you close your showroom i.e. dont pay monthly fees to keep the ID active.

so thats what happened, showroom got closed because so so reasons, he didnt pay monthly fees to keep the ID active, so he could generate CRTM. and now ID is blocked.

what he could have done, before closing his showrrom, that generate CRTM and register bikes on his name and then sell as used bike.

to answer your question, no he is not from MP, i dont want to put his name on internet yet, as he is still co-operating (i guess) .

and it was display bike not the demo/test ride bike., i guess, demo/test ride bike needs registration becuase its going to be used on roads by customers.

                        Thank you.

                        sorry for my bad angreji.

                        edit:
Why do not you go and meet him directly.?
what will i get ? if he says the same thing when i meet him ? then whats the point of going to his state and meet him., i will go and meet him , if ignores my calls, or backs out from our deal. otherwise i guess, there is not much i can do by going to his place and by meeting him.

                        thanks.

he is trying to help for now, thats why i have not taken any legal action yet.

once he stops responding or starts saying that he cant do anything, then i will surely file FIR.

                            Thank you.

Hello, I am going through a similar issue.
I bought a benelli tnt300 from a guy. I saw the bike on olx, we met got the deal done. I acted very desperate and i got the bike. I went to benelli service station in pune. They said bike's ownership will be a tough job to transfer as it is registered under dsk motowheels.
I checked on mparivahan app it shows owner name as DSK motowheels. Now i am getting paranoid. I tried calling the guy today he is not picking up the phone. I am a new member here. I live in pune and that guy also lives in pune. I am still confused if he scammed me or theres any way i can transfer the ownership.
