  • [Photo Feature]: Low voltage output from Regulator Rectifier unit

My CT100's RR unit is giving only 5 to 8 volt output. It doesn't increase beyond 8v on increasing RPM. Therefore, the battery is not charging and the horn is not working. I changed the RR unit to a new one but I am still getting same values. Stator coil AC output is 10 to 60 volt.

What could be the problem? Please help!

I will test and let you know.

        My charging system is good.

I will tell you the values I get.

Did you test the new RR in diode mode?

I was working on my Jawa, the replacement RR was bad too.

I have tested RR in both diaode and resistance mode. In diaode test Yellow and Yellow-Red wire gives 0 value while others doesn't give any values.

In resistance test. Every wire combination gives resistance in mega ohms (0.7 to 1 mega ohm) except Yellow and Yellow-Red wire which gives zero resistance.

I don't know what values should a healthy RR unit should give.

I have attached the image of RR unit.

For my bike, AC output is between 26 - 59 Volts.
            Check attached snapshots.

            For RR unit:
Red lead connected to white wire
            Black lead to yellow wire.

            Unchanged values for diode function.

            Battery voltage:
At rest and key in off position: 12.4V (Battery age - nearly 2 years old I guess)
At rest and key in on position: 12.3V
            At Idling: 12.5V
            At approx. 4-5K rpm: 13.7V

Yellow-Red wire connectors were stuck and I didn't have time enough to disconnect, had to change my accelerator cable and clean the carb.Click image for larger version

I didn't understand this line - "Unchanged values for diode function".
What values you are getting in diode test?

I am not getting any reading between white and yellow wire in diode test. It just showing 1 (means infinity).

                Replace ACG.

                If your battery is ok.
                Replace ACG

Yes that is the last option I will do. My battery is discharging when connected to motorcycle. Because charging voltage is only 8 to 10 volts.
