Yes fitness is mandatory.. dunno about Bangalore but in Hyderabad they ask the fitness certificate and if u Don't have one be ready as cops may seize the vehicle or else ask u to pay heavy fines. These bikes don't require pollution certificate.. only the RC and fitness needs to be valid.

Cant speak of bangalore, I recently got my 1999 2 stroke bike Fitness check done and the RC should be on the way next week. I did not go via a broker, just renewed the 3rd party insurance, got the PUC check done, Paid the Green tax, booked an online slot for Checkup all by myself. Be very sure to have the battery and horn, turn indicators in good condition. Also saree guard and rear view mirrors are a must, paint and chrome should be in reasonably good condition. Keep the original documents of insurnace and PUC at hand ( sometimes they ask for them). keep us posted with your experience. The total cost for FC renwal including green tax in Hyd, TS state is approx 1100/- .
