  • Rereired Mods on RX-100

    hi guys,
I own a RX as i have told before. I have a lot of engine sound on my bike so am planning to get the bike done up.

When i met Phsyco from bangalore he took me to BikeWorld in jayanagar. When the mechs over ther rode ma ride they told me that ther is a lot of enging work to be done. They wher like do not ride ur bike more. Since then never rode ma bade also:

They told me that it would cost me around 5-6 k to get the engine work done.
And another thing is the inside of the tank is rusted totally so i dont know if i need to get a new tank or some thing else could be done to remove the rust. I dont mind buying another new tank itself.
Thirdly the silencer i am running on has holes in it so i thot of getting a new silencer but wanted to know whether to buy a new RX-100 silencer or use a free flow exhaust.[ please suggest me on this and also explain because many tell me many things.

So guys please do help me ASAP.
I want my ride to be like a new rx-100 running on roads.

And thank you before in hand.

if anyone could just ride a bike and diagnose its problems, we wouldnt need tools would we?

get a second opinion, or just get a senior member who is well versed with 2 strokes to check the bike out..first start with compression check, followed by a topend inspection and conrod play..that will determine what work is to be done, if at all

and one increasing trend i observe in this section, is that people just post up their queries and expect even the simplest of terms to be explained to them..also the restlessness in expecting people to always post up and help them and throw light on their face...this attitude sucks, and i would encourage you along with the other noobs to atleast educate yourself on simple motorcycle maintainence and identifying the parts..thats the least you can do to help others understand your problem...

the "my bike is making dhak dhak sound" doesnt help..educate yourself or sell the bike..i dont mean to sound demeaning but this is the hard truth

the psycho u takin about is pyscho 98????

he is quite friendly man,,,,,, and quite knowledgeable too
i think its not clear to him what u wanna get done,,,,,,,
he ll certainly help u out
but sure he has work to do...... cant run behind u !!!
            so try n fix something

and if ur willing to spend this decent amount ..... make sure
that u get what u deserve
its serious piss off when u pay for something

n then u realize u only paid for nothing........ and again have to pay for it

mr astro was quite right in saying that the method of diagonalizing is just fake man nothing else
even mechs around my area ride an claim to know what the prob is

            its crap
and man,,,,, i dont know how people get fooled in such way
i mean,,,,, just by riding once..... knows that u have to replace certain parts and spend some 5-6k and u believe him

there are people .... i dont deny ..... who can tell such things from a ride....... but they are heavily experienced and top notch researchers .......
these street side GADHAS are nowhere near to them

so the moral of my story is....... check with two three mechs,,,, n just hear what they have to say...... and whatever work u do ,,,,, get it done before u or from a person whom u know to be genuine
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

a new bore of rx 100 wud cost u arnd 4k if m not wrong... so thnk bout it b4 u spend 5k on ya old one.. holes in silencer wud raise d sound offcourse..
if u wanna ride a genuine stock rx100 den it s better 2 buy a new bore, silencer nd a new tank..
if u want a high power ride its better 2 get d same engine dun with some alterations nd go 4 an expansion chamber.. bt make sure u wont fit d readily available chamber.. get one calculated spcly 4 ya byk... u cn either go 4 a new tank or a second hand one without rust... but repairing d same one s not a gud idea....

Depends on whom you race with...

Look, its good to respect your bike and we are all emotionally or otherwise attached with our bikes, But we need to be pragmatic, RX100 is a time tested beast which has ruled the streets of India for ages but we do need to realize that with advancement of technology there are new and better bikes that have made way into the streets. It all depends on ones priorities and preferences. Even i have a RX135 and i love it, I am never gonna let it go. But i do respect the fact that there are other better bikes too One being its older brother the RD350 - which redefined biking in India.
So its good that you love your bike and better that you are keeping it stock, but be abreast with the facts.

Senior members like Desideep sir are extremely helpful and humble people. Do respect their views and learn from them.

If my words have hurt you, then i am sorry.

                      Regards

ok vintage value and due respect to whatever the RX100 represents to most people here. Dont mean to burst your bubble mate but the truth is in the next paragraph

The RX100 has nothing but revs..No torque, no fuel efficiency, no engine life and above all no ideal city usage as compared to a RXG/135/Z

Not only this, the RX135 5 speed beats the 100 in all aspects, including performance by a HUGE margin, and has more classic/road going value than a RX100.

Most RX100 fanatics I have come across know nothing about the bike, or have not ridden a 135. You cannot claim to say the RX100 is the fastest and blah and not expect people to laugh. Also, most of these guys are calling their bike girl names and "babe", which is also feel is gay :P

So I sincerely hope you educate yourself, and stop making funny claims. Now you know why vintage bikes aint everyone's cup of tea

                          cheers

Agree with you on all aspects but for the lines quoted above.

'Efficiency' is a relative term and 'fuel efficiency' is a widely disputed number.

No engine life Thats certainly news to me. My RX100 ran for 84000kms before I changed the bore kit. It has run over 1,30,000kms now and no major issues. Regular maintenance, thats it.

RXG was not a succesful model I thought. I must admit I never rode one.

'Ideal city usage' I didnt quite understand this phrase. But if you mean ease of use in city traffic then I have nothing to say.

some one is talking a Vintage here. hmm

a Norton or a Triumph or a BSA could be bought for 2K - 8k if you are only 20 % more lucky than others in BIKE LUCK. but i have seen people keepin them for year before they cuold rebuild them cause it take 3 P's- PAISA PASSION and Biggest Patience. they are not very easy man beleive me. and you want to go the vintage way start with a bullet then dont waste your money here, get a pre 1970 bullet try to keep that keep it sparkelling new like a Vintage and then you would realise.

                              Take care

And yes RX100 is fast but how fast i know how you may have felt when a Pulsar 150 Guy takes over.

and this is my RX100(The name is all same but the boy has put on some CC's)

                              Mods done

Some desi Sh#ty alloys(but they look good) - RS. 3500. (they may go soon)

Electricals changed from 6 Volt to 12 Volt - almost Rs. 4000

RDD cdi- RS. 2200 (i think its worth it)

                              Pulsar analogue Speedo console :
tacho working and giving acurate readings. not sure about the speedo it self. - Rs. 1200 (meter labour extra)

                              Sigma Coming in Soon

MSR toe gear shifter: Motocross style- Rs. 900
                              Fiber Reeds

                              RX135 Seat - Rs. 400

M45 Tyre at rear with tuffuptube - RS. 1600+325

Front Disk brake on the drum alloy wheel.

                              Mods done and taken off

                              BOX swing arms

TVS victor : did not feel any difference.

CBZ : the bike handels like a bullet on the corners. but the straight line handeling was real good.

but reverted it back to the originals

                              Engine rebuild
conversion to 135 5 speed almost 11K including the Barrel kit and a rebuild crank with a TKR rod. and the gearbox and all other stuff.

change wheels to 17 inch (from r15 ) (Not done yet)

a repaint in original colors. (not done but would cost mo more than 4K)

                              THIS IS A OLD PIC

This is some thing that i posted in another thread.
