  • New Interceptor 650 asking for a friend

    Good Evening everyone,

So a friend of mine, after a year of rigorous meagerness of spending and being a shameless cheapskate at parties, has managed to save up enough for his dream bike - the Interceptor. So we recently visited a showroom. There we got to know that due a massive delivery que pushing upto 5 months, the showroom has stopped taking orders. The other showrooms that are still open, are down by atleast a que of 4+ months. We were naturally bummed and left the showrrom with drooping sholders.

We were washing away our disappointment at a local watering hole later in the day when another friend called for an update. We shared the sad news with him. He listened the whole story and told us he knew a guy who knew a guy and this guy happened to be a salesman for RE. He suggested we talk to this guy as he might be able to set us up with a more immediate solution. With renewed vigor, we dialed our new beacon of hope and turns out, he was indeed the Santa Claus our friend painted him to be!! This gentleman informed us that apparently when someone pays the entire amount at one go, there is an opportunity of cutting the line. There is, apparently, a secret stash of bikes that he can take us to and if we pay the whole 3.07 lac on-spot, we can leave with a mint Interceptor with all the legal papers, 1 yr 1st party insurance, 5 yr 3rd party insurance, road tax, registration fees paid - the whole enchilada. Ofcourse we would have to pay him a token amount of 5k to show how we grateful we really were.

While xmas came early for my miser friend, the more cynical part of me couldn't quite swallow this mega bundle of good news that easy. While I don't care much for the money of the tight-arsed magpie I call my friend, I wouldn't want a crook run a profit as well. . So I bring the matter to this informed community for their valued opinion. Please do let me know if this deal is something we should go ahead with or if you have heard of or faced similar situations before.

    Thanks,
    Mandar

My friend also waited a good 4 months for his continental gt 650,
It was worth the wait...it's like waiting to marry the girl of your dreams...
      .
Am a nationalist at heart, Can't see an fellow xbhpian bribe through the waiting line

Re: New Interceptor 650 asking for a friend

Let me share a story of my friend who bought a CL350 in a day when the waiting period was close to 9 months. This friend of mine desperately wanted a black CL350, tried most of the RE showrooms but no luck. There was this new showroom that had opened few months ago, he walks in talks to the sales guy, pays in full + 10K and rides out with the bike. Bike was allotted to another customer who was patiently waiting for his/her turn to buy the bike but the additional 10k switched the deal in my friends favour.

Yes, deals like the above occur but occasionally.

Now, your friend may go ahead with this deal but before paying in full either to the dealer or the sales guy make an upfront payment as booking amount, say 5k, to the dealer. Get the bike allotted to his name and then proceed with further formalities. Make sure you pay the sales guy after taking delivery of the bike with registration completed.

        Hope this helps.

RE comes under the umbrella of VECV (Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles). If the guy you're talking about is working in a group company, they have a zero wait time scheme for the staff. But try what the brother in above comment said, book->get bike-> pay the bribe after delivery.

Although i too feel that it's immoral to do this, ignoring the queue and promoting corruption even if it's in the form of a token or favor.
