  • Bajaj pulsar 150 (2013 model- 51,000 kms run) facing various issues in engine and fork/handlebar

    Hello xBhp'ians,

I have a 2013 Bajaj Pulsar 150which is 51,000 kms run. The bike is being extensively used for local commutingonly and its handled by very softer way of drive and never pushed the bike muchsuch that it will harm the vehicle.

    1) After 45,000 kms seems the mechanic haschanged the cylinder kit related parts such as camshaft , piston rings. i wasin ladakh and hence mechanic has advised my dad hat these things to be done andall those stuff has been done.

    2) After 5,000 kms when the bike crossed 50,000kms on board started to get weird noise (kind of metal hissing sound) fromengine and i found that the valve has got so loose. Gave it the service and themechanic said that i has been tightened to the maximum possible level.

Even after this i am still hearing a irritatingnoise from the engine like a minute tappet kind of noise , i asked the mechanicabout this and he said if valve is tightened beyond this limit the bike willnot run and he says my bike is good and has no issues.

Myself and friend have a doubt that the noise isdue to valve or the timing chain issue, Hence took the bike to another mechanicand he is saying that this will resolve if the valve guide and timing chain isreplaced. We are now clueless regarding the diagnosis of this mentioned issue

    3) The handlebar was too tight post the aboveservice and hence adjusted the Handlebar/Fork Tightness and the Right side Forkoil started to leak and when i asked about this to mechanic they are saying thefork cone set needs to be replaced

Shocking fact is in the past one year havereplaced the fork cone sets for 3 times during service. Asked the mechanic howcome fork cone set needs replacement this much often and they are saying it hasto be replaced no other go and will check why this occurs often due to someissue in fork or chassis.
    Kindly help on this.

    4) I just checked the bike for top speed run andthe bike was able to do easy 110 kmph and top speed of 118 kmph with the rpmlimiter kicking in , Many people are saying that as the top speed is good mostprobably there is no issue in the engine and nothing to worry about the mildirritating am hearing in engine post the valve tightening.

Having the bike used only for local commutingand that too softer handling and usage am wondering how come the bike gives somuch trouble !!!
Have seen friends using pulsar 150 pulsar AS200for 50,000 kms without the issues i face.

As the bike is giving lot of issues and morerepair costs, Dad is in a confused state to sell it or retain and keep usingit. (By the way we don't have enough money to buy a new bike else would havesold it by now and got new one)
