    [Help]: ZMA Mileage

    Hey guys,

    I bought a new ZMA and got the delivery about a month back. Now I had done a full tank after getting the delivery. Now I got a total of 450 Kms on that full tank. Thats an average of 30 Is it normal to get a low mileage in a new bike? Will the mileage improve after the first service?

      hey mate,first congrats on ur zma!
      i too got my zma 3 weeks back, have done around 1200kms till now

      First tankful to the brim ran around 500kms before i decided to refill! It still had fuel..This amounts to around 38kmpl..the bike was driven around 60kmph

      Filled for 100rs next to check, ran around 90kms..This again amounts to approx 38kmpl..

      Tank full again, done about 250kms..lets see how much i get now..bike is being ripped and driven around 70-80kmph now..

      Your seems to be a liitle on the lower side to me! Anyways, get it serviced and re-check..hope ur not ripping and driving under the 4k mark?

        Congos for your bike buddy...

        Regarding mileage...initially bikes may tend to give wayward and weird mileges but once they settle down in this new found world......the mileges also settle down...

        Moreover, even if ther is an increse...it would in all probability be not very much......
        Zma is not a very efficient engine....!

          Thats a little comforting. I have been mostly keeping it under 60. But sometimes cant resust taking it up to 70-75 (for a very short time - less than 20-30 seconds). Also what do you mean by "driving under the 4k mark?"

            Driving under 4k mark means riding your bike without revving it more than 4000 rpm
            And I think the mileage will increase after the first service!

              No worries friend, new bikes usually give less mileage during the running-in period. Ater the first service, you'll definitely notice a significant amount of increase in mileage. And yes, congrats mate for your ZMA.

                Well, I am driving over the 4k marks sometimes... will it screw up the run-in

                  ^^On the contrary, running-in the engine actually necessitates varying the revs as far as possible. Hence, do take her upto say 4.5k revs, close the throttle and let the revs drop to say 2.5k and then repeat.

                    @Drumster: Do you ride a lot during peak traffic hours? How much clutch do you use during riding? Those things factor out too. 30 isn't good, but it isn't that bad either so I wouldn't worry so much. Follow Mavs advice, and keep varying the RPMs. Mileage normally does improve after the first service.

                      @Drumstar --> One of our frnds got a KZMA recently and he was getting 40+ initialy when driving under 4K rpm but it reduced to 34 odd after he started pushing the bike (traffic in BBSR is much less and roads are smooth )

                      Anyways the KZMA doesnt have an economic engine so expect 32-34 after first/second service

                        Thanks for the advice guys. I am actully not to fussed about the average, I was only worried whether there was something wrong with the bike

                        And yes, I occasionally go up to 4.5k rpm and keep varying the speeds for a good run-in...

                          its pretty soon to call it a low average bike.. let it go through a couple of services and you will notice the difference... dont expect too much if you are using the power mode ... if you ride it below 60 you ll get good average.. but i guess you didn't buy it to ride below 60 rite

                            mine gives me around 25 in sane riding and in insane it drops down to 20 or even less. but mine is not a ZMA it is YAMA.

                            hehehe

                              Could you please explain how you have concluded 30 kmpl with full tank. How much fuel you filled? With 4.5 rpm limit you would easily achieve 35 kmpl min with karizma.

                              It is premature to conclude that there is something wrong with the bike. It may be that the petrol pump you have filled less quantity of fuel.

                              Just give us the details of how much fuel you filled as 'full tank'. Have you touched reserve when you concluded the FE?
