  • Front Handle bar wobble

Hi team, I have an Apache RTR 160 4V dual-disc ABS version. I have been facing some issues in my bike. The handlebar wobbles when I take my hands off at the speed of 70 to 80 km/h but when the speed get down to 50 to 60 km/h, it stops wobbling.

And also when I take my hands on the handle bar it stops wobbling. I checked the wheel and handle bar and there is no play in the wheel and also in the handlebar bearing. All looks good and fits properly. But still I am facing the issue. The tyre pressure is 25 psi in the front and 32 psi in the rear.

Any solution for this issue? Total run of my bike is 1800 KM on the Odo.

    Thanks
    Danish

Only two possible reasons, wheel alignment is gone off or the steering cone set is loose/worn.

Fz25 owner and faces the same issue. Front wobble is with all FZ25 motorcycles. May be the case with Apache too.

Check front forks for oil leak. Replace fork oil in both. Also, steering cone set. In my case, the front wobble seems to occur due to front tyre which has worn out on the right side due to riding with unbalanced forks which may had oil leak. After the fork oil change, wobble reduced. My last bike was Apache RTR 180 and it has bad front wobble at speeds above 65kmph. Seems to be in the design. Front wheel balancing can be also checked. Both Apache and Fz25 has a front leaning sporty riding position in order to balance this front wobble. Of course, good tyre will reduce wobble . But, may not resolve fully. What you may do is to write or call TVS about the wobble problem and ask them to send a service engineer. He can be helpful.

PS: When you leave hands at 70kmph, try leaning more to the front, the wobble will reduce. If you lean back, wobbling will be more. It's all about centre of gravity. These sporty bikes are meant to be ridden with front leaning at high speeds. Even if you resolve the issue, it may crop up sometime later, unless you ride only on racetracks.
