i agree with joel here..the real engine guys are a handful, and so is the no BS crowd..Every time i see a thread with iridium plus + splitfire cables, it makes me sick in my stomach..and i've kinda given up on educating people about it now..end of the day, k&n filter with no upjetting, an iridium plug plus some yellow colored HT coil cable is our common man's idea of stage 6 tuning..wtf

It all boils down to how much people here educate themselves about their beloved motorcycles..The only popular trend i see is people blabbering and calling their bikes "babes", baby, girlfrnd et al which sounds totally gay...and yet they cant tell where a carburetor is..they can name their bikes, put some fancy bulbs, a sticker with some cheesy punchline and call themselves bikers...such is the sad state of affairs of motorcycling here and our indian junta want companies coming up with 250cc bikes..sad scene i tell you

So if the consumers are like this..what better can we expect from the companies and the sport..Nothing right? The only sports played well here are posing, coz we have posers dime a dozen..Right here on the forum as well..No offense

I think you have been answered that it is not possible to bump power by doing those small mods that you are planning.
Also, I think the cable your friend told you about is known as a Splitfire cable&is supposed to function better in conjunction with the Iridium plug. Again not a power booster.
Iridium plugs will NOT bump power. It will give you better throttle response by means of more consistent sparking&better cold starts though.
K&N fitting is useless without upjetting. Please learn about the changes to be done to the jets in order to accomodate K&N. It is available in other threads.

This reminds me of a small incidence that happened with me last sunday.

Sunday, there was a Yamaha organised event called Ride Tech Challenge here at palace grounds, Bangalore. All R15 and FZ-16 owners were showing off their rides and there was a race at that Go-Kart track - Freeway 19. I got a call from the Yamaha guys and few friends to come down to check-out the event. Lazily got ready and left home on my R15.
I have done the works on my R15 already. All here know about the works.
I parked my bike outside at the parking lot to keep the nonsense crowd away.
later one of my friend asked for my keys for a ride and then on the way back he decided to bring the bike inside and park it next to the audience stall. Like I expected, I got all the unwanted crowd to peep and comment on the bike. So one software guy (aged around 30) comes to me and asks this,
s/w guy : So why have u put a loud exhaust.
me : for slight bump in performance
s/w guy : why u doing all this, there is a code in the ECU that u need to crack to get 22bhp, why didnt u do it.
I had no words to comment, but it was like a loud bang in my head.
me : cool, I'll give you my bike...crack the code for me
s/w guy : No dude, I dont know how to do but I read on the net. I'm a s/w engineer so I'm sure I can do it one day.
me : fine, so what if I tell you that its utter crap? Thats pure bull-shit.
I told him, there is no masala inside the engine to get that kind of power.
s/w guy : well maybe, I should find out with my electronics vendor. They are into something like this.
me : so what do u suggest I should do to get some serious power
s/w guy : There is a method in which you can route the exhaust gas into the engine directly and you will get twice the power easily. (bugger was refering to a turbo).
I could not control myself and burst loud. I simply walked away from there.

Such is the state of tuning awareness in our country. It will sure take some time to improve things. Even educated guys have no clue, let alone some un-educated mechs who are far better.

Wish if that were possible.....
17 to 25 without touching the engine...... emmm let me think......!! not very possible!!!
I may be wrong but if there is someone who can make this happen then I will eb glad to ride all the way to him and get 25 horses work for my Zma...
