Yes you can use but you need to replace your alternator too since 9A battery requires more time to charge the battery. If you use anything which draws more power then go for 9A(remember to change alternator) else I would suggest you not to go for 9A. I hope it helps.

Definitely you can upgrade to a bigger battery.
Only advantage is in case of a electrical failure the extra Ah in the upgraded battery may help you to extend your driving distance before battery drains completely.
ie. If your bike consumes 1A of current per hour you can drive for 5A without your charging system's functionality.

Dear friend, battery stats are quite confusing. Simply put, what you are referring to as "5 amp" is actually 5 AH i.e. 5 ampere hours, which is a unit of storage capacity. We measure mobile phone batteries in milli amp hours (mah), similarly bigger batteries are commonly measured in ampere-hours.

Normally there is no added benefit of a battery with higher capacity, since it keeps getting charged continuously. In case somebody's motorcycle battery (with lower capacity say 4 AH) keeps getting discharged frequently, then that motorcycle's electrical system needs to be rectified instead of simply putting in a bigger battery. For reference, Yamaha R1 comes with a 4AH battery and it performs as it should.

The concept of "UPGRADE" was popular in older days when XENON (HID) bulbs were popular. HID bulb's ballast requires very high amperage at startup and people used to UPGRADE their battery with an expensive one which had a higher DISCHARGE RATE (C). Nowadays LED bulbs have replaced HID and LED consumes even lower wattage (most commonly sold ones) than the stock halogen bulb so there's even lesser load on the battery.
