  • Battery upgrade for Suzuki Gixxer SF FI ABS model

I own a 2017 Gixxer SF FI ABS model and I'm thinking of upgrading from the stock 3Ah battery.
What other battery will fit in the compartment? I'm looking at an amperage of 6 or 7Ah. Maintenance free batteries are better IMO.
Should I change my charging circuit in any way?
Stator coil or wiring? Will it cause any damage to other electrical systems?
    Reasons for upgrade:
    1. Installing Aux lights for better vision(if you have recommendations, please do give)
    2. Planning on some custom mods, that may require higher amounts of electricity.(will update in diy section as and when I do them.)
I will install the aux lights through a relay and fuse.(looking for recommendations for these too), so the main ignition wire will only have to supply enough current for the relay.

I hope I've explained this clearly enough.
If not, I'll try to clarify.
    Thank you,
    Akaash

I stumbled across your query just now, maybe you have already performed the mods. Anyways I wanted to share my knowledge with you in case it's needed.

Your stock battery is 3AH which means it can store 3 Ampere Hours of charge, exactly similar to a mobile battery capacity which is in Milli-ampere hours.

Now whatever mods we end up doing in our motorcycles, it should not result in excess discharge. Suppose the stator assembly can provide 200 watts to the battery (for charging) at 4000 rpm's, but your modded electrical parts (in addition to the stock parts) end up drawing 300 watts constantly, then your battery will end up fully discharged after some time, higher capacity (what you call amperage) battery will only last longer but eventually it will get discharged too.

So I would advise you to find out the stator coil's output wattage, calculate the overall wattage of OEM parts THEN carefully select after-market mods to make sure that total wattage doesn't exceed the stator coil's average output.

Only thing is by going to a bigger battery. His drain period will be slightly higher.

Thank you for replying. I am yet to start the mods due to the lockdown. I understand this and will look into the issue and post here if I happen to have any doubts. Thank you very much for your response.

I will post pictures of the compartment and the batter dimensions shortly. Thank you for replying.

I am sorry for the late response but the lockdown got to me. Opening xBHP after a long time.
              Thank you both once again.
